Is there some kinda trick to getting Rancor DNA? As soon as I get 62m from them, they detect me. EVERY time, its become rather frustraiting.

i use mask scent and im fine, but after they aggro me and i run away i always get aggroed no matter what so u really only have one chance.

Welp, for me each and every time I get 62m, they detect me. Even when I crawl. I just had three chances to get DNA from a Mutant Rancor, as it had just killed something and stood there. I failed all three times to get any DNA. This is very frustraiting...

I'm in the same boat, Kargos. Exploration IV with +25 from clothing, and I can't get under 60m of a bull rancor without it biting my face off. /cry

Well I've spent 5 hours now on Dathomir, and not ONE single DNA sample from ANY type of Rancor. The times I actually got to attempt to sample, I failed EVERYTIME. So I'm starting to belive you can't get DNA from these anymore, and the BE's that are using this DNA got it BEFORE the patch.

I've talked to other BE's on Starsider, and they are having the same exact problem I am with Rancor DNA....

Don't put mask scent on until you get to 30-36m

start WALKING up to it at 40m, keep walking until you get within range. It should work.

i only have exploration4 and i was able to get within and completely knock out a lair of rancors, young rancors, and some other kind(don't remember). right next door to them though were some mutants......lets just say that didn't nearly go as well....hope i don't have to go master ranger.....

mask scented, walked (not ran) up to a Bull Rancor today, got two samples and it died.

Well I'll have to keep trying then, I just got to mad today. Five hours and no luck really seemed odd to me..

Webmasters were the same for me till I figured out the trick...

one of the other posters hit on it...dont use your maskscent until you are within the Strike zone (the range at wich most weapons work - 64 meters) I ususally walk untill I see the the "?" above their heads or 30 meters whichever comes first. Then Hit mask, /prone and crawl to 14 meters....

Problem is you cant sample a second time while prone, so I just stand and then /prone again and resample.

Got lots of Bull Rancor DNA tonight...also ended up with lots of health wounds too...from the Plague!

For prone sampling, just turn a little before you sample, it works then.

To be honest though, prone seems to make very little difference with Rancors - I've spent 2 days sampling Rancors, Gnarled Rancors and Mutant Rancors, and the Mutants are a real pain - I've been searching for a Master Ranger to Camo me, but no luck yet :/

A swoop bike or speederbike is your friend here, keep it close & qbar the mount/dismount buttons, and if you get aggro, jump on & speed off, I only died ~25 times yesterday instead of 100

THe problem Im having is getting high CL for orders - using gnarled & mutant DNA, Im hitting 45-50 CL, and rarely higher, and I still cant work out how to get more resists into clones and keep the level high, as Rancors dont have the best resists now :/
