First off, the latest publish has re-kindled my interest in masting Bio-Engineer. I'm having lots of fun playing mad scientist for my guild. Great work!
Admittedly as a 2-1-4-1 bio-engineer, I haven't "done it all" yet. But it seems as though our profession has little utility in combat. Perhaps we could craft and use debuffs and/or poisons, etc. Just a thought to make us more group friendly, especially in that we often need a group to sample the good DNA we need to make those incredible pets.
Please not, I'm not complaining. I just had the thought and thought I'd share it. Again, great work on the BE rework.

You've hit on the catch. We're a tradeskill class, and like other tradeskillers we don't have any real value in groups. We're unique, though, as it's a lot easier for us if we have someone, or a group of someones, watching our back as we collect our resources (the only resource in game that can Deathblow!).
Frankly, I don't think we should be any different combat-wise. If I wanted to make poisons I'd have been a CM. If I wanted more damage I'd be a commando... etc.
I appreciate fully where you're coming from, but honestly I think that if you want to do more damage, you're much better off chosing a damage class as your second prof.
