Thread: DNA Sampling XP. HELP!
Okay I have no clue what Lodied was trying to say there.
Go to an adventure planet. Take along a friend that has some weapons skills. Group with your friend and run destroy missions. When you get to your target lair use your /sampledna macro to kill off the critters (make a macro saying "waving hands and using the force" that always goes over well). Blam and peace the lair so more animals pop out. Sample, blam, rinse, repeat. Your friend can help keep you alive when the animals aggro on you which they will. Its still better than sampling yard trash like some people do. The higher the critter level the more xp you will get. You also get paid to sample which being a BE you'll need the extra credits.
A low DNA sample skill will give you crappy samples. Grind eopies or something stupid with them. Novice creature handlers can do the tame, train, release grind with them. They have an incentive to become master creature handler as soon as they can with the onset of mounts. You'll find yourself finished with the DNA sample tree in short order this way.
I went to 4 on the other three trees first and now I'm going through DNA 3 and 4. I'm also Novice CH/Novice Rifle/Novice Ranger. I can sneak around pretty good as a Ranger. I haven't had any reds aggro on me from breaking maskscent, only from bad sampling. Right now I'm on Endor sampling things from 25-40. Nice thing about Ranger is that I can finally tell what critter's level is. The rest of you can just go check critter level on one of those nice sites that tell you what level things are.
My only advice is - sample everything that doesn't deathblow. And remember to clone. You will have to sample enough critters that you will get pretty familiar with what's going to give good exp and what's going to incap you repeatedly.
I have 2 accounts, one is a master ranger so i have a prety good idea about the creatures and sometimes its better not to mask scent around creatures that are agressive in nature because they can break your mask scent pretty easily. its great having the ranger skill though, lets you slip through. unfortunately the account that is a bio engineer 4,0,4,4 is also a master dancer with scout exploration. not afraid of fying at the moment, more interested in trying to find the best way to level through the DNA line.
I have to say, I think times have changed for BE's who have yet to reach DNA 4, post patch. Pre-patch I was running 20k missions on blurrgs which got me DNA 4 in about 3 days casual gaming. I feel for you newb BE's. Anyway, some of the better more abundant creatures I sampled were gurrecks, something like 600 exp per pop, and as long as you masked scent and tookdown the charger first you were okay. Those creatures vary now though, so I think its a hit or miss kinda thing...once you find a creature stick with it.
I will suggest this though, I was going towards smuggler when I decided to switch to BE, and I kept my fegn death skill until way after I reached DNA 4. While sampling that skill truly helps out being that if you run far enough away, feign death, you can usually stand right back up because the creature buys your fake-out 75% of the time. Less hassle than having to wait the full 60-100 seconds. If you have the skill points and exp to burn on that it might be worthwhile.
If you don't have the exp/skill points, cloning is definitelya good idea. Remember, just because you're sampling something without a deathblow, doesn't mean the critters next door won't con red and very angry.

I got to Sample 2 pre-patch just as you suggest (My favorite was samplinggrauls). Given what I've seen post patch I doubt this will work for a starting BE. I think they are stuck sample yard trash, which is slow and painful. At sampling 2 I can sample a piket with something like 75% success and 25% aggro. The tougher versions like the piket protector seem to be 100% aggro (10 tries and 10 aggros). I've seen a MBE sample several protectors successfully post patch. From this I assume that until sampling 2 or 3 your basically stuck running around the starter cities sampling warrts, lesser rats, butterfly drones, mites and paralopes.

If you get a crate of Muon Gold then sampling trash is actually faster and less stressful than working on an adventure planet.
