Thread: Sell mounts now or wait?

I got a few people asking me for mounts already... Am I right to dread that when the patch is made live all the creatures that were made before the patch will not be tamable?

I'm curious to hear your opinions.

Why would older pets no longer be tamable? Is that some nasty rumor started by a CH (just kidding), or by a spice crazed person, looking to corner the market on BE pets? I mean, where did you hear this?

Granted a few bugs have slipped through, but to suddenly make all old pets true furniture, I kinda have my doubts?

Tell them that you don't know how the patch will work but if they want them they can have them with no guarantees. Up the price a bit to compensate you for the grief that is likely if they don't work as planned

I've been selling them no strings attached. Most people want dewbacks and I've told them they're over CL 15.. Now they'll find out when patch goes live. Then I'll just have to make them Spats and Kaadus

As to the original question.

When mounts hit TC, existing (as in already tamed and trained in datapad) mountable creatures were able to be trained as mounts. They did not have to be newly tamed creatures.

Not a guarantee, but a fair indicator. Some of my friends already have Kaadu growing in their datapads so that they will be mountable size by the time the feature is released to production.

Uniform Boots, a brightly colored Tactical Skinsuit or Infiltration Suit and a Swoop Helmet make for fair Kaadu Jockey apparel. Let the chicken races begin.

Why would anyone want a dewback? I made 15 kaadu and a couple carrion spat, assuming people will prefer speed.

Everybody doesn't always by on speed or HAM or whatever. Sometimes they buy for style. The dewback looks cooler.

I have people buy gurrcats from me even though I tell them Kahmurras are stronger non-ch pets and they say the gurrcat looks better.

As to why anyone would want a Dewback (or a Bol, or a Brackaset), mounts are pets. They can be targeted and attacked even while being ridden. Those who qualify to use the CL of a higher HAM mount may do so, sacrificing speed for durability in PVP. It is a lot harder to shoot a 5K HAM Dewback out from under someone than a 1K HAM Kaadu.

As with anything on Test Center this is subject to any number of changes before going into production.

Disclaimer I'm about to pass on an unverified rumor. Many people on the CH board seem to be ofthe opinion that the pet has to be 60% grown up before it can be trained as a mount. If so your customers that buy now are going to be much happier as they will have old enough pets when the change goes live. People who wait till then will have to wait a week to get a working mount. As I said though I haven't confirmed this rumor.

Mirrl is correct. Currently, on the Test Center, creatures have to be about 60% grown before they can be trained into mounts. The only exception seems to be the Giant Carrion Spat - because it is so large already, it can almost immediately be turned into a mount.

Dude... they should make a Star Wars and Castlevania cross-over game. Yeah!

but don't the CHs have an option to "grow to mount" or something like that?

What I would like to know is...

Do creatures target the mount?

When it says Kaduu, does it mean any Kaduu? Regular? Male? Female? Scout?

Why would anyone want a Dewback? CL 18, takes all your pet levels.
