Ive just tried 10 pets that I made as 2nd generation pets... 9 of them came back invalid.

Only DNA used was Merrek and Burrower DNA

_______

Tried my only under level 10 pet I made... Used Picket and Bol DNA

Invalid

_______

Id say 90% of Bio-Engineered pets are going to be invalid at this point. Just to let the people know who arent in game yet.

That really stinks.... I wonder if the CL lowering effects of 2nd generation DNA have been changed? Going to be real fun trying to figure out how the system works now... NOT!

........maybe we shouldnt log in for a few days.....ive sold alot of second gen 25-45 level pets, never would have guessed that they were invalid.

Oh dear. Who wants to bet that they put a cap in on armor now, so anything that is <40 with AR1 will list as invalid...ohhh that would suck.

If they do that, then BE's are back where they were 2 months ago.

As a master creature handler, the one thing appealing about BE pets is the ability to have 2 pets out at the same time, with both of them having light armor. If I as a master creature handler cannot do that, I will just use wild pets that I tamed myself. After all with wild pets sometimes you have fond memories of difficult 2 hours tames, or certain pets take you weeks to find and tame. There's a certain attatchment that comes with tames...while there's no attatchment to a BE pet you plopped down 200k for.

So if all things are equal, or even close to equal, I think most Creature Handlers will go back to relying on their own tames.

Alsoif that does end up being the case, I will most likely stop working BE (currently 1/1/2/3 and working hard). I've always been intrigued by BE, and being able to make pets that are better than my tames finally drew me in. But it's come at a price (sucking at pvp, not as easy of a time doing combat missions...). And the price ain't worth it, at least to me, unless the pets are substantially better.

Aenay, did you -just- make these 2nd generation pets, as in, today and post-patch?

I can confirm the only 1 of 7 pets I made yesterday is "invalid", and that one had a crit fail on aggression that drastically lowered the CL.

I can confirm that a CL 26 pet I made yesterday still has light armor.

Just because you didn't use kamurith DNA doesn't mean that you didn't exploit the system (intentionally or unintentially). It's been proven that merek DNA can be used in more or less the same way as kamurith dna to make uber pets.

Now, I'm not accusing anyone of anything, just saying that you could have unintentially made something that you thought was ok but really wasnt.

I believe all DNA from creatures with a list of "Effective" resists (as opposed to "Special" resists) are sources of the bug. This includes Pickets, Kamuriths and Mereks. I think allof those first gen creatures using Mereks are dead right now too.

now system might work like some us thought to begin with. Make critters something better. Take a CL10 kaadu. no resist. get some DNA mixing going on and get maybe 5 resist. Not much but that is better isn"t it? They want rancor stats in a cat size, bang! we can do that. fiddle with resist. we can do that. It like it used to be just more skins. You see a level 30, you check its info out now you have a referance on what to make. Now you got make it and make it something better. Not godly better. By reading the boards and just playing around you all should have a clue on what to do. I can still make my CL35 pet with armor. Has graul maluer damage and health, so it not so smart in the mind but it shoots poison. His partner will have knockdown. and yes can have decent resist, not them 60's and more like so many post saying they made but still better then other CL35 cause of armor. Maybe they will take that away <shrugs> then they do. I bet there alot of pets that can't be called and I bet there is alot that can be. Those with right stats for level are still alive and well.

I wouldn't be too concerned just yet with pets being invalid. Apparently, the hotfix this morning had some unforeseen consequences, and the devs are working on fixing it.
