Thread: My Opinion On Today's Hot Fix
I don't have a problem with the change...if it was functioning as intended. But it seems like perfectly valid creatures are coming up invalid and creatures you think would be "invalid" are still valid based on what I've seen in-game and on this board.
I think our dev is still on vacation .....
This fix is from other devs who wanted to fix things fast with no thought to possible repurcussions .... oh wait ... I guess it could be our dev. /shrug
Clearly something needed to be done.
Clearly the Dev's should have made a public statement to that effect before doing it.
Clearly they didn't realy fix the problem compleately and managed to make some new ones to boot. (My theory is they didn't have tight control on all the values in the equations and some numbers were outside their intended ranges (probably things became negative values or overruns), the pets with invalid stats probably have values out of range in their data, but this wouldn't always have a dramatic effect, just depends on how far out of range they are. I doubt very much there is a CL equation, more some base stats that determine the ones we see and some of those base stats are out of whack. Apparently its still possible to craft pets with stats outside the proper range.
Sloppy work in my opinion.
Small preface - I am a 1/2/3/2 Bio Engineer and a 1/2/1/3 Creature Handler.
There were a few questions I had about today's "Hot Fixes".
What do they mean by invalid pets? I had two pet deeds from prior to the various pet changes, specifically the one that required the fix controllers from the creature handler trainers. I tamed them after that particular patch. While they were growing, they showed up as Difficulty Level 0. When they became full grown, they are now Difficulty Leve 1(0) though they actually seem to be about level 15 for the dewback and 28 for the razor cat. I would think they were invalid pets, but I could still pull them. I've bugged it numerous times, and they still have not done anything to repair them to their correct levels.
With the changes to "invalid pets", will there be controllers to fix them or our customers (and ourselves) just be SOL on the pets?
About the "over powered low level pets" fixes...
Okay, yes, I have made some 5 - 7K HAM below level 10 pets with about 100 - 300 damage depending upon my luck. Yes, they sell well because of their level vs. their stats were godly compared to natural level 10 and below creatures.
While the creatures are bugged severely, I do think that creatures made by BEs should be considerably better than those found in a wild. Basically, I think that BEed creatures should be at least 30 - 50% better than a wild creature. That way we are valuable to something more than the CH community.
That's my 0.02 credits on the matter.

I do see a problem with todays hot fix but not in the same light as everyone else. Fixing these "uber" pets was a must and should bring back some honesty to our profession, however the real problem with this whole thing is the lack of communication between the developers and the players. Please open the flood gates and let us know exactly what is going on... I just ask for information, is that so bad?
Thats always been the problem. We are mushrooms, they keep us in the dark and feed us .... welll you should know how that ends. BE was broken for 6 months, Now they do something cool but OPPS they messed up and left a broken patch in game for over 2 weeks.
Rather then saying there is an issue with some BE pets and letting people know there is an issue, they went and celibrated their holidays, got fat on ham and merry on drinks and when they came back to work they said Opps we have a problem. They came out with a list of stats and levels and said this is valid this is not but lets not tell the players, leave them guessing.Little did they know that their ranges are still obtainable making it still possable to create bad creatures.
They know they still have a issue, even managed to tell us, and well thats a first in its self, but your right on the mark with lack of communications. There should be documentations detailing the original changes, rather then a guessing game and having the players do the work for them bu writing our own. There should be guildlines so that we know if there is a bug and we can report results that should not happen. But that would be the proper way to address things.

You know how long it took to get the descriptions on the Tissue samples put into the code?
