Thread: Sampling Problem and Observation

Before double XP week went away I decided to finish off the sampling tree with my corbantis character. (My other starsider char is already a MBE.) I already had DNA 1, and was working on 2. I head off to sampling some "trash" DNA. I didn't have any problems, but it was going to too slow for my taste on Corellia and Tatooine. I head to Talus and finish off DNA box 2.
After I trained in box 2, I head to Dantooine to start sampling stuff. I notice that I cannot sample anything above a CL 35 at the moment, so I go for wild pikets, longhorns around CL 33 - 34. I finish DNA box 3, head to train and log for night.
Next evening I wake up, head back to Dant to finish off the 4th box. The first thing I run into are pickets level 49. I'm like woohoo. I tried to take a sample ... wouldn't work. I got the "you cannot sample dna from that pet." I move out from under my bike. Nope .. still wasn't happening. I made sure the piket wasn't in combat... nope just kinda lounging around. I stand 0m from it. Nope ... nadda.. Can't sample from it. I look around and decide to still the eggs from the lair. While stealing the eggs, I realized it was a player mission b/c it let me take eggs from the nest about 9 - 10 times. (Wild spawns let me take from the nest about 4 - 5.)
I shrug .. think maybe I'm bugged. I do a logout for about 25 minutes .. eat... hop back in game. I log back in and the nest and pickets are still there. There is a female there. Ooooo milk I think. I go to milk it ... nope .. not gonna let me. I keep getting the same error's. I give up and move on to the next huge group of yellow's on the map.
CL 43 I sample .. not a problem. Woohoo over 1k xp (gotta love double!). CL 44 pickets .. woohoo! worked again!. After I finish stealing milk, dna, and eggs from them, I move on. CL 46 Thune. I tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried again to get a sample from one. Nope .. couldn't. Which leads me to beleive the sampling cap for box 3 working on 4 is CL45.
I come upon another group of CL 43 pickets and go to work. I first swipe the eggs. NOt a problem. I then head to the nearest female. Again, the same problem as earlier. I was in clear Line of sight of the picket. Nothing was on it or me. It wasn't in combat, I wasn't in combat. I was standing 0 - 1m away from it. It wouldn't let me sample it.
Then this guy pulls up and declares "Daz my mission dude! Get away!" I apologize and explain what I was doing, apologize again and leave.
This just makes me wonder. Can we not sample from other people's actual missions? I can see the safeguard against that, but I can see how that would get annoying after a while. I'm only a CL 17, and it's given to me by the medic/scout boxes because my other profession is Tailor. Has anyone has any problems sampling and getting that message?
