I am new to crafting in SWG never really cared much about it. With a good majority of the docs /respecing and not being able to find meds i need I have decided to take it upon myself to make my own and sell what i do not use. A few things i do not understand from Eskies post.

x Charges 66 OQ / 33 UT

X Power 66 OQ / 33 PE

How would i know which resources contribute to power or charges? How would i be able to figure out what the min or max maybe? Is this learned by trying and failing or is there a way to figure this out?

Every schematic has experimental percentages, something like 66% overall quality (OQ) and 33% potential energy (PE). UT means "Unit Toughness".

All stats (OQ, PE, UT etc.) range from 0 to 1000, most resources to not have all stats (there are a few exceptions where the min or max for a resource is different, but more on that later).

The 66/33 ratio is the weight those individual stats take when determining the maximum percentage you can experiment to in any given line. Should two or more resources have the relevant stat, the average is used for this calculation.

Example:
- Schematic: ABEC
Resources:
- Lok wild wheat OQ 900 PE 500
- Tat Fiberplast OQ 800 UT 600

Charges (OQ/UT):
Average OQ: (900 + 800) / 2 = 850
Average UT: only one has UT, so its 600. Would no resource at all have UT, it would be 0.

Weighting: (850 * 66 + 600 * 33) / 100 = 759

So you could at most experiment to 75.9% (759 / 1000)

I found the values I posted as min and max in the post you are referring to by experimenting to different percentages in the lines and using a linear interpolation / extrapolation.

Now to a recent change in the crafting formulas: If a resource is gated (for example, PE cannot ever be higher than 700, as is the case for herbivore meat), the range it can be in gets scaled up into the 0 to 1000 range all resources have. So a herbivore meat with PE 700 would count as PE 1000 in the formulas I presented above. This scaling takes into account all resources that can be put into the slot, so if it calls for meat and you put in herbivore, it will still only be 700, because you could have used avian instead, which is not gated and could reach 1000.

If you want to know which resources are gated (min or max), look for Lunariel's guide on resource caps (dont have the link handy currently, sorry).

Very nice Eskie. One of the best explainations I've ever seen.

Just a couple of note to add to the very good explaination by Eskie.

For gated items, like the herb meat called for in some items, where the PE is capped at 700, the formula uses x/700 not x/1000 as it did prior to the crafting change. This was a drastic change in crafting.

Where the schematic calls for a general item and you use a resource that doesn't have the stats called for, that stat is ignored. For example: wood does not have PE or FL so when you use it in an organic slot calling for PE and FL, those 2 stats are ignored.

Its all in my above post - the x/700 case is what I referred to as scaling in one of my last paragraphs, and the stat counting as 0 if no resource has that stat is in the calculation of average UT
