Thread: BE food tissue pricing formula (testing)

I am trying to establish a pricing for the tissues BEs can make (particularly the food ones). Was thinking of:

Resource price total + (Resource pricex20%)

Example:

Broad spectrum nutrient

Organic 35units

Flora food 35 units

Creature food 35 units

Resource stats for calculation sake:

EG1 (High end): 900 OQ 800 PE 500 FL

EG2 (Low end): 300 OQ 200 PE 200 FL

Organic & flora food Price = (OQ+PE+FL)/3x0.01

EG1:In this case, the organic would cost about 7.3cpu

EG2: In this case, the organic would cost about 2.3cpu

Creature food price = (OQ+PE+FL)/3x0.02

EG1: In this case, the creature food would cost about 14.6 cpu

EG1: In this case, the creature food would cost about 4.6cpu

Cost price of the 1 broad spectrum nutrient would be

EG1: 70x7.3 + 35x14.6 = 1022creds

EG2: 70x2.3 + 35x4.6 = 322creds

EG1: With a 20% markup, this comes out to 1226creds per BSN.

EG2: With a 20% markup, this comes out to 386creds per BSN.

Note:

1) Based on the assumption the BE is a Master BE.

2) Costs for factory runs and travel have not been factored in.

3)Naturally EG1 would be lots better than EG2, but I do not know if BSNs (or other food tissues) cap at a certain point the way they do with clothing tissues

5) Does not factor in milk premiums, simply because I don't really belive it's that much of a premium item these days

I am not a math whiz, nor have I ever been in manufacturing. Comments are appreciated. I'm particularly interested to know if the markup is too high. It would be interesting to know what the markups are for RL manufactured products, though I suspect the answer is it would vary depending on the product and market sector.

I was originally trying to price my tissues in a very similar way. Basically something like

# meat * 25cr/u + # flora * 5cr/u + fudge factor = price of tissue

The fudge factor was just basically to assure that it would be worth my time to product rather than simply selling the resources off.

Once you've established this "base" for a crate of food, you can slide that number up or down depending on the strength. So say up or down 5k/crate for every 10 points of strength, something like that.

I think I came to price of 30k/crate or so for +85 BSN. But then I abandoned this price scheme when I realized that each of my crates was increasing the profit of the chef I was working with by 200k or more/crate, which just made it rediculous to proceed with such pricing.

Now I only barter tissues for food. There's just no point in getting used like that.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not in favor of severly pushing prices up, but if 20% is too low a profit for the BE (considering the demand for BE enhanced food - poor starved players lol), would 30, 40 maybe even 50% be a more logical markup now? That way once the demand starts to level, we simply lower it back down to 20 or so.

Made some BSNs for my town chef, selling them to her at cost price based on the formula, about 750cpu. They have a +85 mod. If there's any left, I'll probably try to sell the rest on my vendor at like 900creds per BSN... maybe do a test and see how fast these fly.

My example is really simple........ Ressources*15

This ends at 1200per food enhancer or 30k per crate.... And gives you some playground for higher meat prices.

Maybe its a bit too cheap, because i always sold out.... but who cares.

Im selling 160 crates (or 4 full sets of 1000 identical enhancers) every day.

The problem with that is that each tissue has a different milk/meat/flora mix. You may very well be selling well below the value of your materials in many tissues.

I use the following breakdown to price my components.

Flora Resources - 2cr

Creature Meat - 7cr

Creature Hide or Bone - 5cr

Milk or Crustation (Spelling?) - 10 cr

So for a multinutrient suppliment it would be;

2*20 + 2*15 + 7*15 = 175 credits

At this price they sell very well, I know some people have charged alot more for additives, like 500 credits each.

I have been selling my 86% for about 1600cpu, but will soon have to raise these prices aswell since the meat prices have skyrocketed in the last few days. I would actually make more moneymyself if i i just resell the meat instead of creating additives with it.

Please post your server and a waypoint to your vendor, I will create a character there and go buy you out, rofl. You are not even pricing things at 1/2 the market value of your materials used.

I can take your resourcesand sell them for more than whatsome of yousell your final product for. I began selling medium nutrient at 800 per (loosely 20cpu for meat and 7cpu for flora) but I know chefs that will pay that much for the raw meat. So I've upped it to 40cpu for meat and 10cpu for flora....1400 each. The chefs had no problem doing 35k per crate. Even though 20k per crate seemed doable to me, when you factor in how high the demand is...that is too low. And meat costs are going up...

Some things that people don't think about:

Taking 1 lot for a factory should compete with a large harvester and what you could use that same lot to sell resources for.

Time is money, so if you gather meat on your own that is cost. If you go searching vendors for it, that is cost. And compare both to contracting out hunters.

I wonder if you could sell the crate of tissues for a percentage of the profit that the crate of food would get. Granted as a chef pointed out on one of the other threads it takes quite a few more factory runs to get the final product but I think that would just dampen down the percentage.

Bartering for the food/drink you need to hunt large quantities of meat would work too, of course.

Good Greif, please tell me where any of your vendors are if you have one. The only vendor I've been able to find BE Food Tissues for sale was selling them for 150K a crate!!! 6k per tissue. damn. Needless to say, I didn't buy any(And they had plenty in stock). Some people may be fine with selling BE enhanced crates of Brandy at 250k or more, but not me. Inflating price becuase of demand doesn't sit right with me.

If I could find crates of BSR for 2k per tissue or less I would be a happy camper. Anyone willing to point me to a vendor?

Yea, it's still a real dicey issue. I really do want to work with a chef, I think that is rewarding, and the chef I'm working with now is great, a super guy who mainly makes food for his PA, but I'm supplying him in much larger quantities then I ever thought I could. At first I just figured I'd supply him with 3-4 crates a week, something like that, and get a crate back from him (we're very very casual about this arrangement), and from that I could gradually stockpile a "lifetime supply" of food for myself and my friends. But now the quantities are getting larger and larger. I just bought about 1.5mil worth of meat this week and am starting to really crank the stuff out. So now for me I'm not even sure what to do with all the food I'll be getting. I'll be getting much more than I can reasonably use myself, or even give away to friends, but I'm not going to sell it and compete with the chef (we're on the same planet) and storage space is a huge issue for me. So I dunno. Even with a real nice, reasonable, appreciative chef I feel real reluctant to put a stake in the ground and say "this is how much I'm charging for a crate" just because it's such a touchy balancing act.

One thing kind of cool about the arrangement though is that now we're starting to get some hunters that want in. In other words they give me meat, I make larger quantities of tissues, I get more food back in return, then the hunter gets a cut of that. We'll see how it all works out.
