Thread: I had a bad afternoon with BE crafting...

Spent 90 minutes gathering DNA to make twins. Got the first one to owrk, sampled down for the second and then BOOM - critical assembly failure.

Not a problem, I thought- sampled down from the other stuff I'd made and got the last 5 samples ready and BOOM - another critical assembly failure...

*sighs*

I then had to go out and get another 40 samples (just to be sure) and make the second twin.

3 hours altogether for a pair of twins that should have been done in less than 2.

To cap it all, they were for a friend so I can't even rub my hands with glee over all the credits I could charge for them *chuckles*

I really really think it harms us more than other crafters when our samples go 'poof' in a crit. It's not like we just stick a bl**dy harvester down on them and wait for it to get more!

I know - they probably will tell us it is 'working as intended', but - like the Murphy's - I'm not bitter

I've noticed that failures come in groups then I won't fail for a while. If I fail once I start crafting on low end animals. I'll typically fail again either critical or on experimentation. Once I get past the group I can craft again safely until the next bad patch arrives. Its not full proof mind you. It just seems to work out that way.

I'd say its not so much the fact we don't get our DNA back that sets us apart from other crafting professions. Its more in that every single animal we make must be made by hand. A chef or a tailor or a doctor makes a schematic. If they critical on the schematic they may lose some very valuableitems but when they suceed they have a shematic that can make as many as 1000 items failure free.

I'm not advocating factory made animals by any means. I'm just drawing to light the fact that if you made 1000 animals by hand you'll fail infinitely more than someone making 1000 batches of brandy.

I know what you mean. As a future BE, i am doing lots of stim crafting, and i am actually relieved when i get crit fals on my stim-b components as it means i probably won't get a crit fail on the stim.

Things get weird right before a major patch. I think the small patches they do make other things act funny until the big patch goes in.

This weekend I couldn't sample some animals because I couldn't see them even though I was standing on top of them and had them targeted. I had animals warp away when I tried to harvest meat. Dragonets and eopiescan fly, at least this weekend they could.

You can't milk an eopie while its flying either. Must have something to do with the farce.

Oh I had a day like that yesterday! I was sampling, okay hardcreatures but still 40, count em 40! sample fails in a row!

I gave up, it wasn't worth it to me to stick around another hour or two and hope that my luck would change. I had 1/2 my inv free, i was within 15m, I have noidea why I failed so much! It's never happened to me before -- not even on high level creatures!

I wasted the trip to the planet and just went home.
