OK, so armed with information from the community that experimenting on physique in this recipe would lower the CL, I set out to investigate:
The Tools: 40 Voritor Dasher Samples, 60 Huurton Pup Samples
The Recipe: VD, VD, HP, HP, HP
Trial 1
Critical Fail
Trial 2
Control template
DNA: 5 VHQ samples.
Experimentation: None
Template:
Hardiness: 211
Fortitude: 44
Dexterity: 208
Endurance: 343
Intellect: 28
Cleverness: 16
Dependability: 696
Courage: 347
Fierceness: 26
Power: 65
Creature:
CL: 10
Health: 3819
Action: 3245
Mind: 1091
Resists: 4 Kinetic and Blast
Speed: 2.15
to-hit: 0.21
Damage: 70 - 75
Trial 3
DNA: 5 VHQ samples.
Experimentation: 5 points in physique (max)
Template:
Hardiness: 381
Fortitude: 150
Dexterity: 210
Endurance: 344
Intellect: 28
Cleverness: 16
Dependability: 705
Courage: 341
Fierceness: 28
Power: 67
Creature:
CL: 10
Health: 6368
Action: 3263
Mind: 1593
Resists: 15 Kinetic and Blast
Speed: 2.15
to-hit: 0.21
Damage: 70 - 75
Comment: The HAM and resists have increased significantly by experimenting fully in physique, however the CL has not changed.
Trial's 3 - 8
Trials 5 and 6 discarded due to experimental failure.
Trials 3, 4, 7 and 8 worked soley on physique using 1 - 4 experiment points. Each time the HAM and resists increased but the CL didnt. It remained at 10 each time.
Summary of trials 9-20
Sorry got fed up with the numbers, will do a spreadsheet in the morning.
In short, maxing prowess (4points) gave CL 10, Maxing prowess and physique gave CL 11, 5 in physique, 3 in prowess gave CL10 with 6.2/5.3/1.3k HAM. 1 point in mental raised the CL to 11, maxing psychological had no effect on the CL either way. Maxing aggression gave a CL 11, maxing aggression and psych also gave an 11. Maxing mind, agression and psych gave a cl12 and then I ran out of DNA
Sorry this isnt as detailed as I intended right now but I'll update it later, just had to get all my thoughts down before I forget them and wake up wondering what all these scrawls on my pad mean.
This doesnt really prove anything but it did give me a great new 1st gen non-CH pet recipe

This doesnt really prove anything but it did give me a great new 1st gen non-CH pet recipe

The problem with this experimentation is that you are using very low level animals which means you are unlikely to see such a big impact. I reckon if you were to use creatures with base cls of about 40-50 then you will see the big difference that experimentating on physique makes.

very useful info. i've been messing around with my stuff too trying to figure out why some turn out 11 and some turn out 10. the only thing is, if even experiment once on prowess it always puts it at a LV 11. but i don't use HP, i use NS, so that might have something to do with it.
also something i noticed with the VD samples...after i use up all the good ones with 600 or so hardiness, i'm left with a lot that are 520-560 hardiness, but still having the 600 or so in dexterity. every time i use them in that combination even if i still expirement on physique to get the hardiness up tp 380 on the template,it always ends up lv 11. but when i use the samples with 600 hardiness(for pysique)and 600 dextierity(for prowess)and experiment to get hardiness up to 380 it stays a lv 10. i hope that made sense at all. i'm quite tired.

Resist, CL and HAM: I have the same experience - when there is very little resist, then HAM is cheap and will just increase CL by 1 or 2. Lots of resist really makes CL go up when experimenting in HAM.
Nice recipe!

I agree with this. I also think that you'll see more differences in experimentation where creatures with high resists and/or armor are involved, because there is then a multiplier when calculating the effective HAM is concerned.
