Thread: Interesting bit of info...
Iheard that wild pets with AE specials actually use them, so i went out and tamed a Gaping Spider Recluse to see for myself. After letting it grow to full i tested him tonight and sure enough he actually used his AE poison against a lair of Gurks. So if they work from wild pets, why dont AE specials transfer over to our clones? ![]()

I wonder if there are some PvP issues. Suppose you are fighting a creature with your pet and haveno desire to PvP, and an opposing covert faction member gets caught, purposefully or not, inyour petsAoE attack. You get a TEF, and he kills you.
Suppose your pet is fighting a creature at close range, you are healingyour petbut not fighting, and an opposing covert faction member has his pet use an AoE attack on the creature. You get caught in the effect, unintentionally auto-attack him, get a TEF, and he kills you.
Perhaps there are other scenarios that could cause problems as well. The same problems could, of course, happen with wild tamed pets. So, maybe neither of these scenarios could occur. I'm not saying I know there are problems with pets having AoE attacks. Just wonderingif PvP issues may have something to do with it.
The most likely alternate explanation is that the devs think AoE attacksby BE pets would allow them to be too powerful. Mutant Rancor Bleed, Bull Rancor Plague, Arachne Queen Poison Spray, etc. certainly would begreat to have. Maybe the devs are currently trying to come up with a fair way to get them into the game. Part of the called-for fix for their problematic method of calculating CL on BE pets.
I go with the bug version myself ![]()
Doesn't mean they won't sit there and say "Hmm...they didn't get that upset about this, lets leave it off"...
I agree it is either 1) a bug, 2) AE's were left to wild only to give CH's a market.
My main worry with AE specials is the new combat system and how the AE's will hold agro. At the least, i know some of the AE's are pretty nice for getting the attention of a pack of critters because i use a Queen Merek quite often.
