Thread: Maybe the dumbest question of the day, enjoy......

Ok, for starters, I am a 0/0/2/1 BE. So I am making crappy pets anyways. But, when i make them and decide to sample their DNA, I get terrible new samples, often with lowered fortitude, fierceness, etc. The dependability always goes way up, but even the resists are awful. Now, I have heard many of you big-time BE's talking about cloning and 2nd/3rd gen DNA. is this what you are talking about, sampling pets you have made? Is it just because I am so low on the skill trees? Or am i missing a major part of BE (cloning)?

Any help appreciated

Not a dumb question at all.

Let's say I make a carbon copy of an arachne warrior (5 samples). I make that pet. That's Gen 1.

But now I want to lower the CL or maybe add in some other DNA, so I sample the Gen 1 pet and maybe ass in some new DNA. That pet is Gen 2.

Repeat process as many times as you want (too much of this will cause problems), each time is a new Gen #.

You'll get better! With higher DNA Sampling you'll be able to sample your own pets a bit better, and with better Engineering you'll get nicer results when making the templates.

The high Dependability thing appears to be a bug, it happens for all of us when we sample our own pets.

Resists will start lower like that when you do a DNA combine into a template. The oppertunity to get them back up to what the DNA donor's were comes by pumping experimentation points into Physique. Usually just takes one or two points into Physique to bring them up to full.

I thank you for your supplies, to date I have sampled one creature 5 times, but I understand that comes with higher dna sampling levels, i do enjoy the death touch sometimes.

Greetings,

As one of the newer Master Bio-Engineers on my server who are doing it for the sake of the class and not for the Holocrons, I know exactly what you’re talking about. Before I got DNA Sampling IV, I wasn’t able to get more than one or two samples from the clones I made, so the “generations” weren’t coming out much better than the previous ones. You’ll notice a fairly big jump in sample amounts per critter when you hit DNA 4, so just stick with it and you’ll be there in no time at all.

One of the things I found that I could make well were level 10-ish pets, made from Desert Razorback DNA (found on Tatooine). The first generation with 5 wild samples will come out around level 13 if you experiment all the way on HAM stats (ignore Aggression, non-CH’s only want their pets for tanks, not damage). Then get one or two samples from that clone, mix it with three or four wild samples, and make a new template - this time experiment only 2 point each into Physical, Prowess, and Mental. Out will pop a nice level 7-10 pet that you can turn around and sell for 20k or so. Plus sampling the Razorbacks gives about 250 exp a pop, and all the critter combines will get you a little of your crafting experience.
