Thread: Confused non-BE type

I'm a semi-combat type on the valcyn server.I am very confused as to what the net result of what the CH and BE changes did and how they effected my playstyle.

The non-ch pets are nerfed to lvl10 only. That I understand. So I turned in my cowardly gurrech to get some lesser sludge panther with 900HAM and crap dmg.

Ok, I can live with this. How you ask. I set the stupid thing free, cuz my probot is now my uber pet.

So I start asking around and I find that 9kHAM 47% resist BE pets exist for non-CH. Ok so I think to myself, hmm this all seems so odd and commence to look into purchasing one. Here is what I find. They cost between 250K-600K, depending on the BE you talk to. Ohh and some BE won't even make them cuz they say these pets are exploits?? The pets on the bazaar are novice BE failures and junk, not even worth browsing.

All I want is a stuped pet replacement for my cowardly gurrek, that's semi-decent. So I start asking random BE's if they can make me a non-CH pet. Sure, about 75% of them don't even bother to answer. And the ones that do confuse the crap out of me and have not so straight answers. More so cuz the process is complex and full of options that I just think most don't want to explain to us non BE peeps all the options.

So where does this leave me.

  • I could buy junk off the bazaar

  • I could pay 1/2mil for a pet that seems like its going to be nerfed soon anyway

  • I could stick with a lesser sludge panther that gets 1-2 shot incapped

  • I could keep wasting my time trying to find a BE that can cater to my needs

  • OR I could stick with my probotand pray they give DE somthing nice. (or just fix the profession and make it viable)

None of these options are too appealing.Or am I missing something?

What can a non-CH expect to get thats not going to get nerfed or taken away once the devs figure out so called exploit?

We don't know what the devs planned or didn't, basically they didn't want non-CH's to have a pet that could tank, therefore they lowered the max CL. No benefit if you didn't spend the skill poiints to get CH. But, when they made the BE changes, things got weird. If you send Ne'ka an e-mail I'll see what I can make for you, I use piket and lesser plains bol DNA, which is not listed as bugged, and I can make you a decent pet for a whole lot less than 100k...I have some on a friend's vendor atm and can send you the wp...

The probots won't be staying with their medium armor thats for sure. And a 900 HAM pet being killed in two shots.. then your using it on mobs that are too tough for it. If you want to fight those mobs with a pet then become a CH, thats what the profession is there for. Non-ch pets are not designed to be tanks for anything but the lowest end mobs, they're house pets, they're your loyal companion, they're not supposed to be thrown into every enemy you come across with no thought to their survival. SWG actually went through all of the beta and a couple months of release without non-chs ever having a pet aside from the probot. No one ever felt that non-ch pets were needed and we happy with droids being the dominant style of support. Well guess what folks, thats how things are going to be returning to except now all pets are going to be little more than basic support roles for CL1 to CL20 mobs.. if you want more then become a CH.

probots aren't great for what i do, low level nightsister killing. might last 6-7 hits if lucky. i hope they fix DE, i love having my kwi and probot out at the same time, we're a pretty good team.

Droids are going to get the major love in the coming patches, so that will likely be your best bet. I suspect theremay evenbe Droid certs for combat professions ala weapon certs. Probots will be the non-CH equivalent droid for the masses. Haven't heard if they are going to keep their medium armor or not, although I thought they readjusted them in this last patch to where they wanted them? Perhaps not.....

Non-CH pets are going the way of the dodo bird. Sure, there will be the odd mount and cute house-pet, but most folks -including my Bounty Hunter -are not going to bother with them as theywill simply be not worthanything.BE's will be tied closely to CH profession as its sole market outside of tissue enhancements, and their fortunes will rise and fall along with this profession.

As for the current uber non-CH pets (i.e., anything out there that can tank something more powerful than a gnort, according to some), I don't believe ANYONE knows yet what they are going to do with them. Perhaps they will be grandfathered like the FWG5's/Scatters/Old Probots in prior fixes or perhaps they will have their CL adjusted. I would tread lighltly buying ANY non-CH pet now that is a halfway decent tank for even mid-level content as there is a good chance it will be "adjusted" to being unusable.

One thing is for sure. The Devs have a desire for us to groupdon't really likefolks soloing anything more powerful than a Gungan Hermit, hence some of the recent changes. Some say this means all combat aids such as non-CH pets and droids are going to be eventually useless in regards to tanking ability. I disagree, at least in terms ofdroids.2/3 of the player base prefers solo PvE and the Devs know this fact. They take away even intermediate-level content from soloing folks and the clicks of cancellations will be deafening. We all know thebusinessmen and marketing suitsare the real guys who call the shots

Your options(paraphrased):

  • You could buy junk off the bazaar - not worth it

  • Youcould pay 1.2 mil for a pet that may be nerfed - buy at your own risk (caveat emptor)

  • stick with a lesser sludge panther that gets 1-2 shot incapped - not worth it - a waste of pet stims

  • keep wasting your time trying to find a BE that can cater to your needs -caveat emptor again as anything they make you that is decent may be unusable after the fix

  • stick with your probot and pray for DE changes/enhancements - for your needs, I bet this is the way to go

Remember, Thunderheart's recent post implied that they are going to turn "Pet-wars" into "Droid-wars" to help folks out who lost their beloved tanks. Just my prediction based on what I have seen thus far.

Oh- and you have yet another option if they decide to totally nerf any soloing ability in this game and keep folks from soloing even intermediate-level content: hit the cancel account button and go elsewhere -at least that is what I will do......

If you think a CL 9 pet with : 6k ham, 20-23% kin/energy, 2.0 attack speed, 150-180 dmg, Stunning strike special is the kind of pet your looking for then feel free to visit my Vendor on Valcyn, only 1k South of Theed (-5297, 3195). I have many skins available there.

NOTE: non of my pets are made using the 'bugged' nocuous Kamarith DNA.

huh? i'm lost..heh. the 14k ham light armor ones with only 35% energy. working on rifleman for holo, t21 and 1/0/1/1 its easy. especially with 24% resist all cl 11 kwi. can't wait to use my gurrcat, light armor 60% kinetic, 500-510 damage, dizzy/kd or strong poison/disease, don't remember which. 10k ham..all bugged dna free at CL 33.

on a serious not to original poster, it is possible to make a good non ch pet. i made a CL10 dalyrake, 6k helath, 5k action, 3.8k mind, 10% resist all but stun. regular voritor lizard dna works well.

i didn't pay attention to what server. i make them on bloodfin, always for sale in my zoo/store on dant. guild hall+rancors grauls dalyrakes narglatches and gurrcats by the dozen make an interesting scene...
