Thread: Mask Sent questions.... (darn mutant rancor!)
Thanks so much in advance!
The trick I used when I did BE as a holo profession (and then kept it a while to play with it) was to lure the rancors out..
Basically just walk towards the one farthest out from the group untill it agros.. then run away. DO NOT attack back at all just hit peaceasap. They will follow you about 70 to 80m. Be armored and buffed.. and let them hit you and when you get aroub 70 to 80m from their original spot they will stop.. at that point just run right towards them and hit sample.
You will need to be WALKING not running when you approach the point where they will stop following you otherwise the lag in the game will put you out of range to start your sample.
I got 21 samples in about 1.5 hours using this method. I had Exploration 4 and +25 mask scent clothing at the time. I could get mask scent to work if I crawled up to them but I found it slowed me down considerably.

Went hunting on Dath last night and ran into some mutant rancors. I was more than a little apprehensive about attempting to sample these since we were soooooo far away from a clone center and were having a good hunting run, but what the heck, I had a CH there to protect my fragile butt so I *had*to give it a shot.
I threw up mask scent (standard issue Scout version) and I have ZERO mask scent in my clothing and made my way slowly (ie, crawling) toward the first one. At 40m he detected and came running, and we had to take him down the hard way.
Mutant #2... threw up mask scent, slowly started in for him and again, at about 40m same as above.
.....I am still alive at this point, so I just cannot leave it alone....
Mutant #3... this time I ran about 80m out, all the way around till I got behind him and again made my way slowly toward him. Sample success. I got 3 samples out of him before he attacked.
Mutant #4... he popped on a ledge, so I went around (again, about 80m out) and came up the hill behind him (again slowly) and got 3 more samples before this one died from being oversampled.
All in all... a very successful sampling adventure ![]()
