Thread: So far, my best bets on controlling CL seems to be using the following formula... errr... thingy
Lets say X is the creature I want the most desireable traits from, I.E. HAM and resists
And lets say Y is thecreature that I am using to lower the overall CL:
I then do:
X/X/Y/Y/X
I just wish I knew what I could use to get closer to CL 10. I have made a CL 8 with 40% kinetic/40% something else, with weird HAM...
I just wish I could go X/X/X/Y/Y because the first three seem to determine the HAM quite a bit. I end up getting creatures with like 2k/2k/500 with the first method, but the resistances I want.
Has anyone figured out what the controlling factors for CL are? Right now, at my skill level of sampling, I get 60% the level if I use all same samples.
Will that be closer to 95-100% at master?
It seems that the first two blocks also control the CL alot more than the final 3. Going to do some further tests tonight with really high level, and really low level, samples, and see if I can get the %'s down for each slot.
Right now, I'm looking at it being about: 25%/25%/15%/15%/16% or thereabouts for CLcontrol, divided by the total change. But I know thats not right, I'm just using it as a guide.
Wish I hadn't wasted so many of my control samples on a creature template that caps minimum at 15, took me 20 samples of prime DNA to figure out it was the min cap, not the DNA, ruining my CL.

ok, I'm going to do some more control tests tonight if I get enough time to play.
Does anyone have any suggestions on good test cases?
I'm going to try a:
23/23/5/5/23 and see if I can get a CL 10 without experimenting
Test cases I think I should try:

30/30/30/30/30 -> this one I'm pretty sure what CL it would come out (60% of 30)

All of this DNA will be average quality, and will probably take me longer than I have left to my subscription to collect.
Add in critical failures... gah, I wish someone else would try to figure out CL. I wonder if its tied more into resists and HAM than original CL?
I don't believe that this is the correct approach to considering CL's. I think they are calculated based on the final stats of the creature, independent of all the level of dna you've added.

If final CL is tied into HAM and resistances
Then it DOES directly or indirectly tie in with the CL of the samples I use.
I also believe that each slot gives different weights towards the final CL. Now, I think its alot easier to do test cases with a 5 slot DNA system, then figure out a formulae with 5 slots AND 50,000 DNA statistics(ok I exagerate)
If I can tie down a formulae that is even within 85% accuracy, it will give us something to work with. I find this kind of thing exciting, I just wish I could sample faster. It was so easy figuring out war magic damage bonus in Asheron's Call compaired to this voodoo magic, at least in that it was straight combat spam and a test dummy
