Thread: CH's driving BE's crazy. What's reasonable?
I've been getting bulk orders for under CL 35 (hitting 30 most the time) with light armor and maxed kinetic for 100k each. This guy is reselling most of them so they are able to fetch more than that. Anything that can be paired up for a MCH is worth more than a level 45 whatever.
Those requests aren't unreasonable.
I don't take orders by /tell. I do keep my tag up and I do get quite a few tells but I ask them to put the order in an email. If I don't receive an email I don't build the animal. Animals are built based on first come first served and the DNA I have (I'm not going to make an uber pet out of cu pa DNA). Strong poison and armor can be found on Endor. Disease can be found on Lok. Its a lot of traveling and a lot of sampling and a lot of cloning.
I screen the emails and let the people asking for non-creature handler anglers and kimos they can't be made. That reduces the orders quite a bit. ![]()
Caveman,
First..thank you for the thoughtful post. I'd like to see more of this myself.
Second, regarding this rare pet you speak of...
Quote - "you have to understand that I already have a rare pet with light armor, 60% kinetic, 80% heat, 80% acid, 80% electricity.."
I believe they can be made bymost competant Bio-Engineersas of now..but the CL will be somewhere in the 54-56 range and have Stun/Strong Disease for specials and 50%+ Energy resists on top of the resists you have listed. Better than what you have? Maybe not..but Im sure you'd like a few more ![]()
MCH inquiries welcome for more details on putting this in the skin of your choice.(plug)

The desire to have a high CL pet is ... just plain wrong. I can make the same pet with the same stats, attacks, etc as a lvl 50 or a lvl 65. You really want a pet with LOWER CL and higher stats. A BE can probably make your rare pet at a lower level. The experimentation goes into psych rather than physique. You'll end up with a pet with slightly lower HAM, at a significantly lower CL. Sample the new clone, recombine adding in some more samples, and you have it.
Picture a clone made with GSP DNA. After I've used half my experimentation points, it looks pretty much like the orginal. Now I put all 5 pts into psych and you have a GSP 5-10 CL lower. This is also fun to do with Merek Deathheads. End up with a merek of lower CL, then put him in a bunny body. Booyah!
Most of the MBE's I know are turning their titlesoff because they are constantly in tell hell from MCH's asking "Dude, can you make me an uber level 70 kimo with AOE specials?" and they are getting tired of it.
Has this been your experience so far?
As a MCH, I have been guilty of this myself, and for that I am ashamed of myself.
(you have to understand that I already have a rare pet with light armor, 60% kinetic, 80% heat, 80% acid, 80% electricity... so Iassumed that I could get an even better one (which I can't)from a MBE. Therefore, if a cloned animal is going to be useful to me, then it will havea low cl below 36, andvery specific specials that I'm looking for.)
So, in the interest of being reasonable, please tell me honestly:
I am I being reasonable, as a MCH:
- if I want to buy a level 35 pet with light armor and 60% kinetic resists?
- if I wantthe aforementioned pet with astrong poison and knockdown?
- if I wantthe aforementioned pet with adizzy and strong disease?
- if I wanteither of the two above to have a ranged attack?
I know it must be frustrating getting "picky" (or flat-out unreasonable) requests from potential customers.
And I honestly want to be realistic when I talk to MBE's about making a pet for me.
So, here's your chance to speak up, and say what is"reasonable" to expect from a cloned pet, and what is not... Hit the reply button and tell me what you think.
thanks.
p.s. If you reply to this thread, wouldyou alsoelaborate on what a reasonable price would be for the cases mentioned above?

Those request aren't unreasonable. However, most of the MChs I have spoken with want it right that second. The special requests can be tricky, since most of the time the Specials come off of one DNA sample. Occasionaly, their will be a mix from 2 differnt samples, but no one really knows how to do that consistently. So, it does take a lot of time to make a custom pet. As long as the MCHs understand that and are patient, I have np making a few clones in order to get the desired results.
that's good to hear.
I don't mind being patient... I'd like to have a good relationship with the MBE's on bloodfin, and I don't mind waiting for just the right pet(s).
now, how much should that cost though? - that's my next big question.
Price wise, thats all up to who you speek to. Some people favor a formula based on CL, resist, etc. Others base it off of how much work and the final stats. Sometimes we get lucky and find a bunch of Muntat Ranccors, Frenzied Grauls, Ancient Grauls, Mite Queens, etc up and also get very lucky and get the samples quickly. Other days, it can takes hours just to find some up; and another couple of hours to just get enough DNA for one creature.
Also the more specific your request, the more work a CH will have to do. So, that can effect the price as well.
