Here's my situation:

I was a Master BE for about 6 months before giving it all up. Now I'm interested in picking it up again. I have 160k DNA Sampling XP and 20k BE Crafting XP. Now, if I train DNA Sampling 1 will I lose all my "over the cap" XP? My understanding was that you only lose XP due to cap restrictions when you gain additional XP in whatever skill.

Any answers?

You lose XP if you gain XP OR retrain a skill (not sure if that is only at NPC trainers or elite professions since you can still grind APP with scouting xp etc)

So basically I'm going to train DNA Sampling I then lose 150k DNA Sampling XP?

Not true. You will lose down to the Max xp your allowed to hold at DNA 1 trained. So DNA 1 is 10k to train and allows your to hold Approx 45k (1.5 times next level, but sometimes more). So you would use/retain about 55k of the 160k you have. So you would effectively lose 105k worth of DNA xp.
