I was over half done on the last box, sampling unbuffed on Yavin. After seeing all my good pets go down to poison from Crystal snakes, anglers etc., I decided to take a break and go to Naboo and look up an armour shop I heard of.
Im sitting in Theedlooking at the missions all about 2K and most of them NPC people, (maulers etc). When I had a thought.
I hopped over to the nearest public crafting station and crafted as much as I could to use up most of my inventory. I managed to free up 25 slots in my regular inventory. I then took off all my armour, mask scented and went out and sampled every chuba, spineflap, diseased nuna I could find. Had to muon to finish the inventory off, but I ended up with 25 samples. I then went about making 5 DNA templates followed up with 5 Eopies. (first time I had two crit failures on the final build which I think should be immune to crit failures). With these creatures I sampled them. With the samples I created more DNA templates, more creatures to sample. I ended up doing this twice. 2nd time no crit failures and 5 creatures. It pretty much powered through the rest of the box.
I figured I was onlygetting 92 XP per sample but I was rapid firing off the samples and all risk free. Take into account an Angler which gives out around 400 XP takes a lot of time to set up and I dont like to leave my mind so wasted if he aggros me. In the same amount of time it takes to get one sample at 400 Id pretty much filled my inventory of 92 xp samples. Then I sampled all the creatures I made. I guess cause they were all "trash" the samples were coming off easy and I was getting between 3 and 5 samples per creature. Sure these were all between 21 and 29 XP per sample but it was quick and easy, and the time spent crafting the DNA templates and creatures helped recharge the mind enough to go back to sampling.
Two shots of that and one more trip out on Gualama's and Spineflap missions finished it off! Not bad at all. Tedious? YES, Cheap? Definitely!
Anyone out there that doesnt have the cash for a full set of buffs, it might work well.

What you did was very risk free, just not very efficient (as you stated).
For me I finished off my Sampling on Dath, sampling brackasets. Nice, big, non-aggresive creatures, and 400xp a shot or so.

well actually what Im saying is that by the time it takes you to get like one good sample, unbuffed you can pretty much fill your inventory with 92XP samples. I was getting close to 2500 sampling XP by the time it would normally take me to get all prepared on Yavin, pick two missions and get out there.
Is it as fun as sampling crystal snakes or anglers? NO but it was MORE efficient in the long run. I just couldnt see me doing the whole box like that as I was ready to rip out my eyes after about the bizzilionth cheap sample!

That's the big difference then. You spent time in line getting buffs and looking through missions. Where as I just got on my bike on Dath and sampled anything I ran across that looked big
Never died and never spent money or time on buffs.

My wife finished the last part of DNA switching between 2 Sharnaff lairs, sample all the naffs and proceed to the next lair and do the same there. When she got aggro, she ran and came back (the lair respawned too). That way she spended 1 evening to get sampling 4 and got alot of good samples to make some nice pets.

if you have a buttload of creature resources to burn, go with the highest min CL skin you can make - IIRC, the XP you get is based loosely on the CL of the creature you sample, so grinding out on grauls will always yield a CL35 animal no matter how many gens you go down through. Or maybe I'm wrong, I ground out my last box on pikets =)
