Thread: For the Love of the Game...
- have no idea how to balance combat, but still want to
- don't care what happens to crafters in the process
i don't see forward progress being made anymore with publishes. i see the general population dreading them because they break more than they fix (not an exaggeration) and they consistently add in new and usually poorly thought out content instead of fixing what needs to be fixed now.

Players> Half of the professions aren't even playable because of game breaking bugs/balance issues.
Devs>Hmm... how bout some multipassenger vehicles?
Players> Ooh! Shiny!!!
Trouble is that an informed community is a happy community ONLY when said information remains 100% true. Unfortunately, during the development of the code, any number of problems can arise - resulting in delays, or even complete cancellation of projects due to unforseen problems. Then you have a community that becomes enraged about the 'lies' of completion times, the bugs that were released with the updates in order to try and meet deadlines and the non-completion of what they expected.
US MMO's used to inform players of things they were developing or wanted to develop - but the heat they took for delays and failures was far greater than the heat heat they take by not mentioning things until they are all but completed.
Out of the several MMORPGs that I have played, SWG is quite frankly the best one I have played to date. It has developed itself the most, in comparison to other MMORPGs and has provided gaming opportunities that I haven't been able to locate in other MMORPGs.
Since the day one launch, when I first started playing, this game has radically and fundamentally changed and I am actually quite happy with the changes that were made.
Who remembers the Pre-Player City Days?
Who remembers the Pre-Ground Vehicle Days?
Who remembers the Grind as Many Professions as Possible to become a Jedi Days?
Who remembers the Pre-JTL Days? (Long waits for shuttles and transports, multiple times to jump between planets.)
Who remembers only a handful of places with Static MOBs Days? (In comparison to the DWB, GeoLabs and other Post Launch locations.)
They just added new ground vehicles, seperate from any major release. They just revamped combat to make things better then the old, everyone in Composite, everyone is waiting in buff lines.
If anyone wants to go back to those old days waiting for just "bug fixes" all I can say is... whatever.
This is a possiblility. You know this community has been very loyal though. If they were to stick to their guns and stay the course, this game could be salvaged. Seriously. We have been in a state of beta since day one. I would be willing to wait months for a live publish that was relatively bug free and well put together. As it stands now, well errr we won't get into that. Think about it...if they said, OK whats on deck. Architects will now be able to do this, shiprights can't do this, jedi will no longer be able to do this but will be able to do that. If they had a good plan of action and followed their own notes, yeah some would be upset, but if it was how it was going to be, I am certain we would adapt. The problem now is, that we adapt then adapt again over and over with each publish. If I were to develope this game I would do this.......Inform folks what was coming, develope the idea, refine the idea, Inform the folks yet again, then place my plan into action. The key is informing everyone. I could nerf you to hell and back, if you were informed you would be hacked off, but you would at least know it was coming and why. A informed community is a happy community.
why turn it off for 2 months, they could just rewrite the game while they leave servers on so we can still play.
