Thread: Well I can creep up on them but damned if I can sample them!

Mutant Rancors of course.
I've not sampled them for some time, but decided I need some MR DNA to make a killer bunny (don't ask).
Well, I can sneak up on them no problem (Novice Ranger, Maskscent +25 clothes, prone,etc) - but 50 or so attempts to sample resulted in "You failed to get a viable DNA sample" every time (with an extremely hacked off rancor 1 in 10 times)
I was 3-5m away, my inventory is empty (so there's space for the sample), I'm a Master BE, zero BF, Vassarian Brandy for the nerves, a creature examine confirrms these are DL 75 Mutant Rancors and they are mostly either sitting or lying down.
Anyone else having this problem - or am I just, really, really unlucky?

Think you're really really unlucky. I was able to get 11 samples in about 2.5 hours last night. But my biggest problem was getting close enough (+25 clothes but not master scout or ranger). I got alot of failed sampling messages but no more than is usual for these guys.

Just had an unlucky day 
There are times where I would literally fail 30 times in a row (not including the times I had to get up and run away), while other times, I've been able to get 4-5 samples in a row (from the same one) before it died or aggroed. It can be frustrating, but the pets you'll make out if their DNA will be very much worth it. Good luck!

Lately, I've felt that everything is more difficult to sample. Even low end critters are giving me trouble now. I keep thinking, jeez, if that was a mutie I'd be dead. There are streaks where I can't get a sample off of anything. I had an unbelieveable time trying to sample some huurton pups(CL2) the other day. It was like, fail, fail, fail, aggro, fail , success.

Sorry, no input regarding the sampling, but to help your Maskscent, order some Jawa Beer from your Chef friend. Can get around +20 to your Maskscent that adds to your clothing boost.
