I noticed that the Ravenous Torton Turtles have 1000 dependability and around 520 courage when sampling... But when I add that DNA to a template (mixed species)for the dependability/courage line, I usually start with extremely low stats, like 640 dependability and 260 courage. But if I use all turtle DNA, I sometimes begin with 1100 dependability and around 450 courage (1000 must be the max, as if I experiment any it drops to 1000 and stays there).

Does the template now average from all five DNA samples for each pair of attributes? Or is this the first time I actually noticed that it did this?
