So I just got BE, and I'm running around on Dantooine sampling everything in site. I running behind creatures sampling and failing 15 to 20 times before I can get a succesful sample, or til the creature agro's on me for invading it's personal 'space' and forces me to kill it.

What's up with that? Am I missing something?

until you get higher in the BE sampling line just sample trash outside of the larger cities like on corrillia or naboo, if you dont you will just be failing all the time as you have found out...

Hmmm, I kinda figured that might be it. Cool, thanks for the info.

Tell me, how how should I get before I stop sampling the 'trash' before I move on to bigger and better things?

You gotta walk before you can run. I too am new to BE, i began climbing the ladder a week ago and was dreading the sampling thing. I mad my way to tatooine, lots of smaller creatures just out of town, Bestine was my choice. Relatively quiet, plenty of stuff to target. After awhile I picked up a couple of Cu Pa missions and with my pet, began milking/ sampling them.

I came across 2 static spawns of a cu pa lair and a giant mountain worrt lair within 150m of each other and was there for about 2 hours after which, the spawns dried up but i hade a ton of milk, loads of DNA samples, a useful amount of meat and more importantly, a lot of sampling exp. I'm now in my 4th and final DNA Sampling box and I'm finding Dantooine is great woth Pikets, thunes, bols giving 300xp plus each sample.

Yes I've died a few times, been incapped more than a few but I have to say it's been fun. Nothing quite like creeping up behind something nasty not knowing whether it's gong to go nuts on you.

I've had to drop most of my defensive skills but thankfully I'm also a MCH so I have some decent pets that help draw the aggro.

I'm trying to do the crafting part now but it's nowhere near as much fun as samling!

I just got sampling 4 over the weekend and it really wasn't that bad. But my comment from the start has been that the success vs skill ratio is screwed up.

Even now, I can fail as much on a gnort as on a merek!

My own experience has been Yes to masking scent. I think it increases your success rate since the animal isn't alarmed/intimidated. That may be why I fail so much on junk, come to think of it.

I mask scent out of habit for a couple reasons: first, if the creature is non-aggro, masking my body odor will keep it from running away in terror. And secondly, if it is an aggressive animal, well that's obvious

I have DNA IV but I too fail about 40% of the time. And in addition, I find I have the "death touch" about 60% of the time, and that sucks. Of course it depends on the level of the mob. But IMHO I think if I'm strong enough to kill the damned thing I should be skilled enough to scrape some skin off its hiney

I am Field Scientist (DNA 4) and Mask scent is defenetly your best ally... ;-)

Find a master tailor and ask him to make a full set of cloth with +Maskscent

Anybody, correct me if im wrong, but i think u can have Jacket+shirt+pants with +25 maskscent each.

So, even if your not master scout.. u can have more than +100 maskscent

With theses kind of clothes, i can pull like 5 DNA out of a voritor dasher without beeing agro...

Of course, it does not prevent all agro, especelly on powerfull creature (Rancor) But its defenetly better then not

having it...

lol.....I noticed that without mask scent....I fail quite a bit. Funny that you should bring it up. Someone came into the cantina where I was dancing and asked me for a CL10 Bantha...I said sure. I quickly went out and found my normal lair to sample from and BANG...the first one agros me. I thought..well darn...try it again...BANG...agros me again...When I got up from the 2nd incap I said, "what the heck is going on here". DUURRRR! I had my BE'd dancer clothes on and not my BE'd Mask Scent/Camo clothes on...plus I was in such a hurry to get back and dance...I didn't use mask scent. After I realized that and made adjustments.....smooth sailing from there on.

Yeah...the Mask Scent does make a difference. I havetried this a couple of times since, with different spawns, and each time I have had the same results so....it's pretty reliable and safe to say, "Use the Mask Scent."

There are many many many many posts about the max bonus to one skill from BE tissues is +25. Since tissues can run +16ish easily, more than 2 tissues with maskscent is a waste.

Jawa beer, however, DOES stack with the BE tissues to max maskscent overall. Not seen much of this for sale yet - it takes wooly hide which the armorsmiths value more than the chefs it seems.
