I was reading through the "Perfect Pet Challenge" topic and didn't want to troll it with this question.
I didn't read anywhere in there what quality the DNA was used in any of the recipes. Is it just standard practice touse very high quality that no one stated the quality? Does using above averageDNA affect the end result or is it the stats of the DNA that does?
I'm a born-again master BE who left the game in October when I got frustrated with not being able to create our items in a factory. Coming back this past week has put me basically back at newbie BE.
So I apologize for the newbie question.

Most of the time I use High quality Dna, except in the aggression or psych slot when I am manipulating specials ... you need to go with VHQ to ensure your special sticks. There are some variations, it just depends on what you want on your final combine. As a rule of thumb the higher quality means better stats depending on which slot you put it in and what that slot affects. I often have no problem using only AA in one of the first three slots, but as a Master BE most samples I take are HQ or VHQ.

Same here on quality sampled. But on the more difficult creatures, I was hoping that I wouldn't have to waste the above average and high quality DNA by throwing it out. Good to know that won't be the case.
Thanks.

usually for the first two slots I use whatever has the highest hardiness rating to maximize HAM - these two slots weigh in on most of the final health rating. I use lower DNA quality if I can sinceit doesnt matter as much for these.
For the next three, I use AA AA VHQ if I want to keep the specials from the fifth sample, or VHQ VHQ AA if I want the specials from the third and fourth to have a better chance of showing up. The fifth one should also have fairly high hardiness to boost your health up some. You can do HQ HQ VHQ or HQ HQ AA etc etc, but the bigger the quality difference the better the control over specials you have.
This of course is ignoring any consideration of resists or armor =)
