Thread: prices?
it will be different for every item i believe. depends on how many materials, how hard they are to aquire, how hard it is to make, etc.
watch whoyou buy from. most tailors are nice and will work out a very reasonable deal but ive seen some tailors with rediculous prices as well.
ive seen prices go from 10credits for lo-end items, to 8k+ for hi-end/rare stuff.
You saw someone charge 10 credits for an item? Wow, my minimum per item is usually 100cr (unless it's one of the ugly Novice Artisan schematics). I charge mostly based on resource requirements, but also partly based on what level something is in. For example, I think an item in Novice Tailor is worth a little more than something in Domestic Arts II because there are fewer people who can make it.
How much you should charge for things is a really hard question, everyone has a different idea of what a good deal is. I've had customers pay me as much as I'd asked for, then /tip me extra because they thought the items were worth more than I wanted. But other customers that you try to charge the same prices may say that you're charging too much. Sometimes they'll try to haggle with you, which can be fun. It's all part of the game. But never be afraid to walk away from a sale. If I learned one thing working retail, it's that some customers will never be satisfied...
I was charging between 100 and 400 credits for most items Novice Tailor and below. Notable exceptions included wookie gear, boots, or other articles with large hide content, which I sold for as much as 850. At these prices, it was difficult for me to maintain stock. My personal policy was - if you bring the hides, I'll make the gear at no cost (/tip, please).
all artisan clothing - 100
shirts, pants, skirts - 500
gloves, boots - 400
belts, bandoliers - 600
jackets, dusters - 800
dresses - 1500
more advance stuff went into 3000-6000 depending on how much material was required and complexity
travel packs - 1000
military, tech packs - 2500
bounty hunter, spec ops packs - 5000
also a good way I increased my word of mouth customer base is by offering medics and entertainers 50% discounts, and because of that they were forwarding about 10-20 new people to my shop a day
My prices were very similar to Ryoho.
Artisan clothing 100-200
Novice Tailor - Boots 300, Shirts, Pants& Skirts 400, Short Jackets 500, Dresses 600, Wookiee 400-600,, Packs 1000-1500
As I moved up the tailoring line I raised prices. The first line wasn't a big change (Casual 1, Field 1, Formal 1), but by Casual 3 Ihad doubled my prices. This was mostly just for clothing that I placed on bazaar. In person I took resources, gave discounts for multiple purchases, deals to returning customers, etc. Now that they have tripled the xp for all the boxes in the tailor tree, I'll probably charge a bit more than I did in beta since the new clothing will be harder to get.
I never sold anything for less than 750creds. Even the low-end items. Most items I classified into 3 tiers - low end (1000creds); middle range (1500-2250creds); high-end (2500-3500 creds).
I sold most items through the bazaar for 1000-3500 creds - and I sold 90% of the items I put up for sale. The only things that didn't sale were the items I had up during the last two days of beta.
People will buy the stuff for higher prices than most tailors ask.
I was charging even more than Fyro at the start (5000 for a casual jacket) and selling most of it. I did have to drop my prices towards the end, but I could still easily get 1000 for a jacket and 750 for work slacks.
Don't sell yourself cheap. Clothing probably has the fastest turnover of any crafted item save weapons. There were times in beta I was subsidizing my architecture career with the proceeds from tailoring.
Where you on Bria though? The Bria economy was so inflated it was not funny. People had credits to just piss away. It's a bad example for how these servers will be working.
Look at it this way. I saw people selling bounty hunter backpacks and special ops back packs for 10K credits plus and no one even blinked. I do not think you'll see the same thing now that it's live and no one has a huge stash of credits to fall back on.
That being said I think some of the prices quoted are probably a bit on the low side.

P.S. the Blight on Bria now isn't the original
