I've gone out twice now to try and get some mutant rancor samples to make a MCH friend a pet. The first time it was just me and him, and I had to do the trick of biking into the spawn and masking scent to get close enough to sample. Probably got 10 or so attempts before getting killed off and giving up.

So I went back tonight with a master ranger friend. He applied Camo and I crawled into the spawn of them with no trouble. Got right up next to a nice juicy mutant rancor and started poking it. Over the course of getting triple incapped (are they not deathblowing now?) I sampled 19 times. This makes almost 30 times total I've stuck one with my needle, and I've still never gotten a single sample.

Is this normal? Did they change the max level and not tell anyone? I've checked and rechecked to make sure my inventory wasn't full, since that's the only other time I've ever had a string of fails like this. So far I have to say this is much more trouble that it's worth. But I'd really like to make my friend a nice pet, so I want the DNA.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I get streaks where I'm very unlucky and streacks where I'm lucky. I've sampled in no armor and failed, I've sampled in full ubese and had good luck. If there's a modifier, it beats me.

Hiya binossi,

It's very normal. When I first started I couldn't get crap for DNA but it does seem to go in spurts where you get a sample or two and then none. I was happy to walk away with 2 or 3 samples. It takes persistence but stay at it, and you will be thrilled the first time you get a sample from one.

That's pretty high though it doesn't surprise me. Are you a Master BE? Oh, and they won't DB as long as you don't hit them.

*grin* Glad to know it's not just me. I'll be back out there again tonight I guess. Yes, I'm a master BE, so I've got as much DNA sampling skill as I'm going to get. Be nice if we got SEAs too.

Sampling MR's is fun...love it. Sneak in there..poke, poke...Get a sample and die..lol.

I've gone in and sampled 25 times and not get a single sample. Sometimes, I've gotten a sample 75% of the time. just seems to go that way.
