sorry if this was already brought up, but what does anyone think of allowing docs to cut down on the side effects of some of the spices/drugs in the game (like a treatment application)? Kind of makes sense, but then again, I don't know what effect those concoctions have on people.

Docs can already apply enhancements that have no ill side effects. I think it's good enough at that. If people still want to "spice up," let 'em.

nono you misunderstand
I meant that when people take spices they have some side effects (puking, etc) that I've observed
I don't know if it has any ill effects on the players performance, but I was suggesting that if it did then perhaps there is a plce for doctors to offer treatment to speed up the recovery of players taking spices?

It's an interesting idea. THe question is how would it affect the balance issue of how Doc Buff -v- Spice buffs -v- Chef Buffs -v- upper-tier Entertainer buffs work out.

We know that Chefs should be getting a balance pass real soon, which should mean in increase in their buffs, but they shuldn't be too competetive with Spice buffs. Spice buffs are a bit borked right now because they cannot be experimented on and the resources used make no difference to them. Something they MIGHT be adding to Smugglers, but not necessarily soon.

I would think we would have to wait and see on doing something like this after we see how those other things are implimented.

Sorry if this has already been given...

Maybe smugglers should get the ability to look at 'Hidden' catagories on the Bazaar... A sort of Black Market. These catagories could include Spice, any weapons that are sliced, maybe some hides (Say hides from 'Indangered spicies'), and maybe even some combat droid moduals (When they come) ones that would be classed to dangerous or something.

Also smugglers could get the ability to make special 'Bazaar Scramblers' that allow all other professions to be able to buy/sell on the black market, but have a 5% chance of being detected and blocked by authorities (Have to buy another one).

Sounded good when I thought of it =P

This is coming from a non-politician, but it's an idea I've had for a while now. I don't frequent the Politician forums, so my apologies if I'm reinventing the wheel here:

One of the biggest complaints I hear about SWG is lack of content. Yet when new storyline material or dungeons are released, they are usually 'beaten' within hours. It seems that the devs can't provide content fast enough.

So my idea was to give politicians (perhaps just Master Politicians) the ability to create mini-quests within city limits. I know the system couldn't handle epic quests, but I would hazard to guess it wouldn't be too hard to give politicians some simple tools.

Basically, politicians would be able to place up to 5-6 NPCs around their cities, and within public buildings, then give them some dialogue options, similar to ad barking for NPC vendors, only people can choose options. For example, you walk up to the NPC and select Converse. The NPC says "Hi, my name is XXX. I'm in need of your services. Would you like to help me?" Then you could select from some limited options, like 'Yes', or'I'm busy, maybe another time' and then a generic 'Stop Conversing' button (note, this is just a simple example; presumably the actual mayor-created dialogue would be much better ).

Furthermore, the NPCs could be flagged for certain things, such as only talk to certain factions, only appear to players who have accepted the quest vs. always being visible, flagged as the beginning of the quest and then the end of the quest (to give a reward to those who complete it), flagged as enemy combatant, etc. The NPCs could also have a limited inventory space to hand out rewards for completing the quests, or the mayor could designate a cash reward paid out of the city treasury. Naturally, the NPCs would automatically give out necessary waypoints to those who accept their missions.

This method could be used to do anything from giving riddles, to a murder mystery,to the generic Fed Ex-style and'go to xxxx, xxxx and kill Mr. XYZ' missions. Different cities could collaberate to create more complex quests (for example, using cities fromCorbantis, when you finish the quests in Apotheon, you need to go to Had Abbadon for the next part, then on to New Mandalore for the third step, etc.).

If it isn't too hard to implement, maybe mayors could be given the option to have certain stock low to middle level creatures native to their planets spawn in certain locations of the city for added combat style quests (i.e. "We're having a Womp Rat infestation. Please go to XXXX, XXXX and kill as many Womp Rats as you can find. We'll pay you handsomely").

This system would be powerful enough to create missions ofabout the same complexity and type as most missions currently available in the game, but not anything as complex as say the Theme Parks or the major storyline missions. However, with some ingenuity and collaboration a creative mayor could come up with some really original missions. The idea would be to give mayors the tools, and let their imaginations do the rest.

Ah well, this is all probably pie-in-the-sky, given how many other things need work in this game. Just an idea I had and I thought I'd throw it out there for everyone to chew on. Thanks for your time.

Excellent idea Perhaps even give the mayor the ability to link one of his NPC's to a neighboring town or possible a main city like Bestine or Coronet.

Oh wow, I would just be ecstatic if something like this were implemented...

We can only hope... and pray.. and hope... and pray... and... hope some more that maybe the devs would listen to this. Given the opportunity I would call them and leave it on each of their voicemails personally... but I don't know the phone number....

In all seriousness though, this would make being a mayor much more fun and rewarding.

Yeah, that was kinda my thoughts too. It would give mayors more to do, and would be a great way to build traffic to the player cities. A smart mayor would put the quest NPCs around the city's merchant district to bring in more customers.

I was talking with Draccus and we came up with a cool addon for us BE's. Seeing how we are pretty much suppliers "Pets for CH's, Tissues for Tailors, Additives for Chefs", why not get addons for weapons. BE Enhancements that add DOT's like poison or state modifiers. It wouldn't be a core component however it sure would make ranged and melee weapons a bit cooler. I don't mean stuff like those DOT weapons coming out of the genosian caves or wherever they are coming from. I am talking about 100 usage drag and drop powerups that people can add to their guns for that extra added damage when the going gets tough. Could also make PVP interesting.

What would you think of this? Would it work?

Hey, thats a pretty good idea. The power of the poison would ofcourse have to be low enough not to compete with combat medics, but still high enough to be usefull. Maybe it could include the need for CM components, since they are the poison masters of the game. And I also think that it should be an expensive power-up, otherwise everybody and their durni would be running around with it.
