Im looking to make a trio for a master CH and would like to get good kinetic resists and light armor. Anyone have any suggestions as to what DNA to use for this? Im assuming it will have to be multigenerational.

Im a master BE, btw, but haven't really made any pets under CL 35.

Well, I think for CL that low with armor, energy vulnerability is probably inevitable. In fact, probably trying to get as many vulnerabilities other than kinetic will help you. Merek harvester is probably an ideal "base" for this since it has high kinetic and energy vulnerability, but you could also use f.graul, a. graul, or brb if you put something like voritor dasher into the mix to get rid of the non-kinetic resists. Then breed it down until you've crippled it's offensive capabilities (to-hit, attack speed, and damage) and you have your tank.

So, would you say that going for broader range of higher resists and no AR would be a better route then?

If the pets are for PVP then you NEED energy resists. Energy vulnerable means that your armor is worthless against energy attacks. PVP also have to worry about heat/acid, so I would urge you to ask your client are these beasties for PVP, PVE or PVNPC (also need more resists). If they are for hunting animals high KINETIC% with armor is great (I have 3 lvl20israzor cats 50% KN good damage, armor, poison/knockdown...awesome trio for harvesting from wild animals)

and I would add for low clvl armored pets mind pool, and some action pool tends to get screwed. Also REALLY bad for PVP.

I believe they are just for general critter hunting. Any other suggestions on which DNA to work with?

Well, it depends on the usage. If you want a tank, you pretty much want armor. no question about that.

My alt has a CL 21 50%+ kinetic armoredtank and it's absolutely fantastic in a hunt. But in a gun fight, I simply put it away. No sense in it getting beat up.

In an NPC gun fight, for a tank, yea, obviously you want to have energy and acid resists, and perhaps others too.

For PVP, this is a lot more debatable whether you even want to focus on defensive capabilities rather than offensive. The last pvp pet I made I actually decided to crank the damage and attack statistics way up and sacrifice armor and even HAM.

For like a CL 50 creature, you can have it all. For CL 35, you can get a pretty balanced, multi-purpose tank. For CL 20, you're talking a very specialized tank. Don't kid yourself into thinking the pet will be ideal in all circumstances

Following ArthurDentOnBria templet I have made several in the mid 20's

My Best so far
Level 21
Armor
Kin60%
Vuln to all others
9k health
7k Action
7k Mind
Damage 140-150
KnockDown/Dizzy

I added Mt.Dewback to his formula for the specials
and I used all the others he named

I am now working on another along the same line but adding Engery back in.

Going to use rhoa kwi pack leader for the 65% engery and bark mite burrower for the 65% Kinetic... And BMBQueen for the Armor... I would really like Knockdown and Str.poison.. But no known creature has both atm. I will have to bread it in.... Not very easy... Maybe grassland voritor tracker and venom-filled arachne...

..Come See Barter Town where all the Master Crafters hang out..
...........Tempest Tatooine 300 -2675 Just outside of Bestine...........

I made a razor cat the other day for my creature handler(ie account 2 for account 1) that is invincible VS Acid, Heat and Electricity. no armor 50% energy protection.

Getting specials to stick is tricky. Ugh.

I now just pick specials. Find creatures with it and combine them together until i get the two specialsI need. Mean while using top dna for slots 1-3 so as to keep the power up. Create many critters from this and then sample them. Combine them with top dna, placing these samples in slots 4-5. Viola, pet with specials you want. You can water down or increase power as you see fit. Even going further with more and more generations till you have a monster thats tailored to perfection. However the pure 'randomnness' of crafting can throw a crimp into things.....

Prolly better methods, but this one seems to work way better than using hard to get dna just to have the wrong specials or none at all show up at the final combine. Drives me nuts, lol.
