I just wanted to offer a thread that didn't bubble over with CU/Curb-related disaster, death, and decay. Sooooo, having done RL DNA sampling and genetic breeding with Insane Pygmy Mutant Fruit Flies, it's quite apparent that SWG BEing ain't an exact science, which, as often happens, leads to superstition. This thread's purpose is to share our superstitions for some light-hearted LOLing and perhaps a bit of bizarre wisdom... if we're lucky.
So, I'll go first:
Hehe... have a fun day!

I always craft pets while Meditating. Don't know what I'm going to do when I drop TKA.

-Kreetles are the most intelligent creature (how else can they always break maskscent?)
-The Mereks are out to get me, clean and simple.
-There is a hidden BE skill mod, best described as "spawning creatures who are almost garunteed to beat up on your unbuffed arse - +100"

1. When experimenting on Mutant Rancor DNA, place your mouse over the 'Run Experiment' button, then count to 10, before hitting the button. This willlower the chances of a crit failure. It doesn't seem tohelp if it is not Mutant Rancor DNA.
2a. The further away you are from civilization, the less your chance of a crit failure.
2b. Lag significantly increases the chance of a crit failure.
3. Before crafting, select the crafting station with your mouse.
4. Putting experiment points into Psychology decreases the CL of the resultant creature.
5. Drinking Brandy increases your success rate at sampling.
6.If you'resampling Mutant Rancors, and your mask scent breaks, the worst thing to do is run. If you don't move, they can't see you.
7. Some Mutant Rancors can't be sampled. Every attempt will fail. Even if your backpack is not full.

Anarrion, I agree with your 2b observation 100%. It's as if server lag equates to holding the BE in greater suspense onlyto laugh maliciously with that nasty "crtical failure" message.

*When out hunting for a specific DNA you will inevitably not find the creature you are looking for, but the creature you couldn't find the day before will be everywhere.
*The more DNA you have the lesser the chance of a critical failure, as your DNA is depleted and if your still not happy with the results the chance of critical failure goes up exponentially.

That's not a superstition, it's true.*The more DNA you have the lesser the chance of a critical failure, as your DNA is depleted and if your still not happy with the results the chance of critical failure goes up exponentially.

*During the crafting phase, stop the spinning graphic of what you're crafting. Then line it up either sideview, or frontal view. Then pause for 5 seconds before hitting the next button. Sometimes I"ll chant, "Please do not crit, please do not crit."
