Thread: General Creature BE Questions (from a non BE)

Recently I've been looking into buying myself a BE'd dewback as a mount and am rather curious about the BE profession, as it's one of the few I haven't tried. I've looked into it some on the boards here (and have almost convinced myself to make a new BE char because of it) but I still have a few specific questions.

I understand there are probably some trade offs here, but I'm curious about what is possible:

For non agro pets at level 10 what are the best tanks that you guys have made. Specifically what kind of kinetic/energy resists, armor and HAM is possible? Also, are certain skins going to be better for this, or are all pets equal on the inside?

Can size or speed (specifically for mounts) be experimented on? Are these attributes dependant only on the skin?

And now specifically about the dewback I'm looking to buy:

The qualities that I am looking for (in order of importance to me):
1) Size (if possible)
2) Speed (if possible)
3) Armor rating and kinetic/energy resists
4) HAM

What is possible for a dewback here, and also how much would you charge for it?

As a general rule, the larger the pet, the more CH skill you have to have to use it. If you have no ch skills, a dewback is about the biggest thing you'll be able to use.

2) Speed (if possible)

Kaadu I think are generally regarded as the fastest mount. Gurrcats, razor cats and gurrecks are generally regarded as the fastest non-mounts.

3) Armor rating and kinetic/energy resists

Extremely unlikly you will find a non-ch pet with armor. Also extremely unlikely you'll find one with energy resistance. Some BE's make non-ch pets that have a lot of kinetic resistance. It just depends on the bio-engineer that you are working with.

Here is something to keep in mind:

In the wild, a CL 10 pet has around 1k of HAM, little or no resistances, and does somewhere around 100 points of damage.

In terms of HAM, you are looking at anywhere from 1k of health to 11k of health, and you are looking at paying somewhere between 10k and 2.5 million. That's a very wide range, but it is strictly dependent on the BE's on your particular server. I'd suggest you look in this thread, and contact BE's listed there, in-game, on your galaxy trade forum, or via PM.

Doh! hmm, dunno why I can't edit my originalpost /boggle, but anyway, you asked about size and speed, and I misread your initial question. The answer is that size and speed are only dependent on the skin, and nothing else, and cannot be experimented on.

Sorry about the mixup.

Ok, thanks for clearing that stuff up. I'm still not sure about a few things though:

Also for a dewback, how much kinetic resistance would you consider a lot?

(edit) just saw you last post, thanks for clearing up the speed thing

1) No choice.
2) Depends on the creature, fastest mounts (not by much) are prolly carrion spats.
3) No armor*, no Energy resists*, either 14% or 60% Kinetic
4) 5.5k/3.5k/1.5k or 11k/6k/4k

The two choices listed for Kinetic resists and HAM are the differences between what's commonly referred to as a legal non-ch pet and an uber/bugged non-ch pet. The way the system behaves is a lot of vulnerabilities lower the CL. It's an area of hot contention, but generally accepted valid non-bugged CL10 pets are around 5.5k/3.5k/1.5k with 15-20% Kinetic resists. Bugged (but technically not illegal) CL10's can be made with 60% Kinetic and around 10k/6k/4k HAM. These may be invalid after the CURB.

Armor and Energy resists add a lot to the CL. Recently a BE on this board got armor on a non-ch pet for the first time. As cool as it is, the time and work involved as well as the final HAM isn't worth it other than a trophy pet (no offense, he did an awesome job).

As for prices, people usually charge anywhere between 5k and 15k for the normal CL10's, and anywhere from 40k to 200k upwards of a million for the super pets, even though they're not that difficult to create.

4) 12k/10k/7k (or as close as doesn't make a difference, 100-150 off)

I'm growing confident that there's a 12k ceiling with fortitude under 500, there has to be some sort of link. When you push hardiness to 700 and still don't break 12k...

Tweaked my recipe and broke 12k on a level 10 pet. Stats ended up 12184/9850/5596. I'm positive this can be pushed to 12k/10k and pretty confident it can also have 7k mind. I neglected to take a screenshot oif the template but hardiness was 690, fortitude was 494 and dexterity was 608
