Thread: [Auction] Over 1000 EGGS in a single stack (willing to split) on Tarq
[This message is cross posted on the Galaxy Tarquinas and Profession Bio-Engineer boards - I will track and consolidate bids]
How much is someone willing to pay for hundreds of eggs in a single stack? I don't know and it seems nobody else knows either. Prices vary widely and I haven't found any pricing rule of thumb. I've personally sold low quality eggs for 20 to 150 cr/egg in small batches and people were snapping them up. Further, I have never seen any really large quantities of eggs for sale. Having collected a large quantity of good eggsI now know why (big pain in the butt even if they are more frequent than before).
To find out the cost/egg, make a little credits, help establish a baseline price, and to see if it is worth the trouble to gather these packages of golden liquid sunshine, I am offering hundreds of the little guys for sale in this public auction.
The stats:
Decay Resistance: 520
Flavor:957
Potential Energy:684
Overall Quality:773
I will try to collect these eggs through the end of theauction - depending on how much time I have and if the resources don't shift I may end up with 1600 (I currently have 956). Post below, PM me here, or email me in game your bid - include the number of eggs you want to buy and the price per egg you are willing to pay. I will update this thread every few days with the current leader prices and the number of eggs. At the end of the auction I will post the winning bids and possibly some extrainfofor everybody to see. Auction ends Tuesday Nov 11th at 11:59 pm EST. Take delivery in the evenings after 9:00 pm EST at Coronet Starport with prior arrangement. Eggs must be paid for by Nov 13 and picked up no later than Sunday afternoon Nov 16.
FINE PRINT: At the end of the auction the bids with the highest cost/egg get their quantities filled first in descending order of cost/egg. For example, if Bob bids 100cr/egg for 1000 eggs and Alice bids 200cr/egg for 600 eggs, assuming there are only 800 eggs, Alice "wins" and pays 120000 cr for 600 eggs leaving Bob with 200 eggs for 20000 cr. Note: In this type of auction you may not get the full quantity you desire, but you are still responsible to pay for what you win (ie Bob can't back out because he only got 200 out of the 1000 eggs he wanted) although I won't enforce this rule if you are left with LESS than 40 eggs.
Out of curiosity what is a sensible quantity of eggs to sell as a single bunch? 1 Dozen? For hand crafting items do you need 10 or 40 at once? What about factories? Do they take 400 or 1500 in one go?

Egg Count: 1044 (I've been busy becoming a MASTER Creature Handler as of 2:00 am this morning - Yay!)
Current Highest Bid: Unless ArthurDentOnBria isactually onTarq - I won't interpret his 10K for 500 stack as an officialbid. So that leaves... no bids. Sigh. Really thought there might be a market (even if it was small) for eggs in very large stacks. Maybe this isn't the best venue for an auction? or perhaps people will wait until the last day to start bidding? Anyways, auction continues.

That may be, however I found his 'fine print' highly offensive.
Talgoth Do Shon,
All are exactly the same eggs with same stats in a single stack.
Hydran,
Please explain how the fine print is highly offensive (in a personal message to avoid cluttering this auction), and I will attempt to accomodate your concerns.
The fine print was to clearly lay out the rules for the auction so there would be no confusion and that both parties would understand their responsibilities since this isn't the usual "bid on the entire stack" type of auction. The advantage to this auction format is bidders can say what they think is a fair price for a desirable quantity of eggs and don't have to buy all of them at once. I thought it was the best way to determine different prices and quantitieswhich was the main reason for this auction.
If you are concerned about the 40 eggs lower limit, that was an arbitrary number I picked because I had heard BE's could use 10 at once and figured to offer them 4 attempts which was about 28 more eggs than I had ever seen sold on the bazaar. I did not know whatreasonable sizes were as I mentioned in my first post. Since there haven't been any bids for small quantities, I would be happy to raise this to a different number if this is your area of concern and would help stimulate bidding. What would you suggest?

Lesson learned. I'm sorry if I offended people. Auction rules now ammended.
There is no minimum force purchase. If there aren't enough eggs to complete your order then you don't have to buy them.
The criteria for selecting the winner will be ranking of their total bid (number of eggs x cr/egg).
Why did I do it the otherway to begin with? Keep in mind I had no idea what sizes people were going to be wanting and didn't really expect anyone to bid on the entire stack. I expected maybe one person would want half the stack for a factory and a bunch of hand crafters would split the rest with some bids for just the minimum quantity of useful eggs (10?). Further complicating the situation was not knowing in advance the exact number of eggs as I wanted to increase the stack as much as possible to increase the chances of accommodating different prices/quantities. I also didn't want to end up with a bunch of left over eggs. It basically boils down to I had incorrect assumptions when Idecided on the auction format.
In any event, this was reallyjust supposed to be alearning experminent and as people say "I got schooled" and am willing to admit it

if i had to guess what offended him, i would have to go with this:
Note: In this type of auction you may not get the full quantity you desire, but you are still responsible to pay for what you win (ie Bob can't back out because he only got 200 out of the 1000 eggs he wanted) although I won't enforce this rule if you are left with LESS than 40 eggs.
you are telling people that if you give away what they wanted to buy you will make them buy a smaller amount. who do you think you are? lol
if someone bids on 1000 eggs and you sell some of them, you do not get to tell them to buy the rest. frankly, i can see how this would offend a potential buyer.

SOF has it correct.
I will say, I am VERY impressed with your responce Diadema.
I think I am getting a bit overwhelmed with the 'dud u suxxors' attitude of the board and assumed, wrongly, that you had that attitude.
My appologyes for my orriginal post, while I stand by that forcing lesser amounts then the full bid is bad, you were not intending to screw over BE for the sake of a few C.
And it seems "I got schooled" a bit as well.
Thanks Hydran.
Just about two hours left until this auction closes. Current bids are still as follows unless someone emailed me in-game (Haven't logged in since this morning will check in about an hour).
