Yes, the pet is "too nice"

1. With the BE cloning quirk, some players found a way to craft pets that place tham at too high a level (in other words, their 6000+ HAM makes them higher than a level 10 pet and thus uncallable.

2. Well we didnt plan fo you to be able to make these. Its just when you get thousands of people trying to min/max someone is going to find a mathematical anomoly...

If this works, we should be able to prevent futher creation of such ebil pets...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TH, It sounds like you're blaming us players for this situation. That is a slap in the face.

Let's break down what you wrote.

"BE cloning quirk" = Bugged code

"thousands of people trying to min/max" = Players trying to make good products in a game with bugged code.

"mathematical anomoly..."= Bugged results from bugged code.

You guys need to take responsibility for this, not us. We didn't put out a buggy publish. We didn't neglect to give the player base any documentation on a completely rewritten profession branch. We didn't send 90% of our staff on a 2-week vacation just days after a major publish. We didn't neglect to communicate with the player base about the suject at all.

You guys did all of those things.

What did we do?

Many of us tried to police ourselves and encourage other BEs not to make these clones even though it was costing us sales because legal clones couldn't compete with the bugged ones. Several of us spent our time and energy researching this bug for you. Some of us asked you every day for a ruling or some kind of guidance on this problem.

I've defended the devs many times in the forums. Tal-N might go so far as to call me a dev apologist. I personally stayed away from bugged and milti-generational DNA. So, I did my best to make legal clones, yet now I find that i have to pull all of my clones off of my vendor because I have no way of knowing if they are invalid or not. We still have no documentation. We still have no information about what is legal and what is not. We still have not had anyone post in our professional forum about any of this.

To be honest this was how i felt to. We werent exploting some part of the code. I never used the broken DNA. And I never did anything to break the cloning system to cause it to creature these special pets. I used the tools and documentation i had to create my pets. The system allowed me to create CL 10 3k pets. I guessed thats how it worked and kept at it.

So yes i do believe an apology to the BE community is needed for accusing of something beyond our control. As well as the fact we have been doing posts on this since christmas. And not once during that time did a single employee say to us, or i would imagine to our correspondent, "These arent correct"

Fodder, there wasn't any broken DNA. The system itself was broken. Any attempt at a lower level clone could have ended up with invalid results.

I wonder who is the jerk who one-stars the excellent posts of these people.

I agree Killer. But what it says when you read it is that we were exploting some broken code by playing wtih min/max's. Really it doesnt even mention the Kalmurith DNA. As if we knew that by making a CL10 3k Bearded Jax we were knowingly exploting broken code. And we werent. The ones who knew about the broken DNA and used it to take things even further is something else

This is a silly and preposterous notion. No one in their right mind actually thought that it was ok to make CL10 pets with 7k-10k health and 48% resists. NO ONE. The people who persisted in creating these pets knew very well there was something wrong, they jsut didn't care and decided to take advantage of it anyway. The buyers of these pets, once made aware, were all still willing to take the gamble that the pets wouldremain usable like some other pre-nerf creations are like Probots and Krayt FWG5 pistols. It was a bad gamble. And it was mentioned on more then once occasion that the more people that did this the faster it would prompt the devs to make a hotfix and when that happens they *always* break more then they fix. So it happened as predicted, thats all.

That still doesn't alter the fact that these people were using perfectly valid dna, and using the system in exactly the way it was made to be used.

That the system kicked out these pets with almost any high/low DNA combination isn't the players fault, and it wasn't an "exploit" just a bad system that was released with no testing.

Some knew, some didn't, some folks have commonsense, some don't. Regardless.....

To place all the blame on players is just bad mojo.

I never said that CL10 pets with 7k-10k health and 48% resists was right. But what about...

CL 10 w/4K Health and20 resists, but no specials

CL 10 w/3K Health and 20 resists, with specials?

CL 28 w/7K health and 40 KR, but lots of vulnerabilities?

CL 30 w/ 7K Health and AR1, ranged, great damagebut lousy resists?

Until the devs tell us, we don't know where the line of legality is.

It really comes down to a case of not being told what was right and wrong here. Yes i knew 7k's were wrong so i never made one. But nowhere did it seem the 3k's were wrong. Same ham as the old Cowardly Gurrecks. And although they were said to be to strong. It seemed this was the way to make the BE a viable profession again.

Im ok with the adjustments being made. I would have liked to have seen them before they were hotfixed. And I think in this day of supposed "More communication" from the devs. We should have been involved in what was being done as well as what we thought should be right. To be left out of this entirely does not show great faith in us as BE's

That is a hell of an assumption. I had no idea we were not supposed to be able to make excellent lvl 10 pets. The first I made was entirely on accident. WhenI saw I could get one that had 6k health I started trying to make others. I knew nothing of bugged DNA if it existed. I dont even know what a 'kamrith' or whatever they said was buggedis. I made 100s of clones beforeI came up with any I thought we enough better than wild pets that I would want to sell them. Since I have played master CH on two servers, and in beta, I am well aware of how powerful a creature is. I am not in a position to 'guess' what the development team is expecting us to do with the updates. I really thought they intended to create a market for BE by allowing them to make very nice level 10 pets if they worked hard enough at it.

So don't 'assume' that anyone knew these pets were not supposed to be made. I read and posted in the SWG academy section almsot every day. There was never a mention that making these fine level 10 pets was a bug, just as driod engineers certainly did not consider making the pre-nerf probots wasa bug (and it wasn't).

If I can no longer make them fine. I can accept that. But don't come here and tell me I was trying to manipulate a bug when you know nothing of me, my ethics, or how I play the game!
