Thread: What are we supposed to do?

I came up with a new pet recipe the other night that I thought was a bit too good for the level of creature it produces, it was 100% reproduceable, I made a couple to ensure this. I didn't want to release unuseable creatures onto the market and I don't want to release the recipe on the boards until I know its valid to prevent another None Creature Handler fiasco like the Nocuous Kamaritf DNA did (these are CH pets anyway). So I send a ticket to the CSR's to ask whether it willbe valid when they put the protection code in again, and do they want the recipe to check it.

All I get back is a message:-

"We are sorry to hearyou are having a problem with invalid pets. It is the development staff that decide whether a pet is valid."

That was pretty much it, who the heck (please upgrade to stronger version)are we supposed to contact about this? Our developer? He's appeared on this board once!! or rather Holocron posted for him on our board to save him from having to communicate with the unwashed masses! I have only ever seen one other SOE logo on this board and that was on the post that they locked about Tal-N's banning!!!!

Dothey want us to unleash unbalanced pets on the world again?Do they want our feedback? Aaaaaargh!!!

I love the new system, I love Bio Engineering, but how am I supposed to use a system that might produce unsaleable items, or items that may bear no resemblance to their previous self after the next patch!!!

I'll wait till the next patch to check my personal pets are all ok then I'm dropping Bio Enginner for something else, maybe architect, at least you know what you are building before the final combine!!!

Sorry I needed that, I will now take a few deep breaths and attempt to calm down.

Once the devs know what they want to do with the system they still won't tell us you know. But on the whole in terms of the HAMs if you want to check what is fair then mutiply the CL ratings by 200, then add an additional bonus if it doesn't have armor. If it's CL20 then add another +1000 to the HAM. If it's CL30 add +2000. Now this will give you a typical average for a single pool, mutiply that value by 3 then you'll be able to determine if your pet's HAM is typical or not for it's rating. A good 9/10 times I've seen that it's not fantastically difficult to avoid making invalid pets over CL20.

As for resistances, well thatsabit more complicated but there is some rough equasions which can help check if thats balance too.
