Can i get a comparison:

The Good-

cl9 health 2506

armor 1992

dmg 17-128

The Bad-

tohit 7

regen 3

just want to see how he compares with what you guys were making. I went for tank, even though everyone says tanks are no more, i went for the tank stats. He just needs to look cool, and be ready to tank for me while i leave him to die in my dust running running running away from whatver hits us in our travels.

I'd say tanks really are dead - the only niche for them is kamikaze distraction pets for crafters in the field

For combatants, I'd say go all out offense. Aside from AoE attacks, with low aggro your pet will never draw fire, and most of the time they'll position themselves along the side or behind your target to keep them out of the cone of fire between them and you. Given that, they're only good for tacking more DPS on to whatever you're dishing out, so max it up, forget health and armor. Mininukers are actually very nice for rooting-snaring kiters. They can attack while in the water, afaik, too.....*shiftyeyes*

So post your best damage results in a nonch pet post-17

anything under lvl 10 doesnt seem mountable inthe current system. i cant be certain about all species but i made a few dewbacks and some didnt come out lvl 10. after they grew fully i couldnt train them to be mounts but the lvl 10s could be trained.

Oh that's not fun ... /sigh. And I just BE'd a level 8 for a friend who wanted a cupa ... LOL .. I'll just have to go find one to tame for him.

this has been noted in other threads... falumpasets and brackasets seem to be 'big' enough at CL10 to hold a saddle, but not the rest of the mount skins.

the armor, to-hit, and defense will likely shift to 0, 38, and 38... or so... when tamed and called a few times.

Since its decided that tanks are not valid, what do you feel like the ranges are that we should be shooting for in the CL10 range to say that we have a solid pet.

a nonCH pet with low health and armor can probably be shy of 200 on max dmg?

a nonCH pet with that would be good for combat would have X regen X Def and X tohit?

or is it still to early to come up with some ball park ranges.

I cant think that .20 to hit and regen of 20 is a fair range for a nonCH but that seems to be a constant area on most nonCH pets. Thats why i was looking for the comparison more than the dialogue, otherwise, ill find myself always trying to get higher and higher, and im looking for a range so i know, its not going to get that much better than this so i can stop trying.

I know theres some more changes coming, are they going to be so drastic that we cant get a good idea of what a new uber nonCH would look like?

to-hit, defense, and armor won't matter in crafting. as I noted above:

the armor, to-hit, and defense will likely shift to 0, 38, and 38... or so... when tamed and called a few times.

CL10's (and clones of all CL's) rewrite those values based on the LEVEL, rather than keep the experimented values.

I have a feeling that as a non-CH user and as a BE, that we are going to want to craft non-CH pets that have the following characteristics at least for level 80 players:

  • damage more important than health

  • DECENT health

  • 'cool'-value

The reason for this being that:

  • my pet takes no damage as soon as I start to fire - i use him to pull the creature/npc out from the others - i stand at 64m out and tell him to kill then almost immediately to follow follow follow, then kill again. He isn't touched at all so I don't care about health or regen

  • I want decent health in case he is attacked by something on the way back to me. I don't want him to tank but I don't want him to die either. 1.5K - 2K health is good enough for me.

  • 'cool' value - ok ... with the size of the pet being dependant on the level now for BE pets, I am no longer using razor cats as my first choice. My level 10 razor cat looks like an overgrown rat.

I will have to experiment with my BE doing combat to get a feel for what a level 30 needs in a pet - and my level 1 crafter as well to see what a level 10 pet can do for him. But those are my thoughts as regard to my level 80.

Dor

PS. I'd write more b/c I have more to say on this but I have to get the kids off to school - whhhhooooosh ....
