Thread: Specials, what slots?
I will give it another try, I am now one block of DNA away from master so I am getting much better samples and templates. If I can get this to work I willbe creating some nice creatures.
Thanks for the tips.
Hey Nat-
I, too, have found getting the exact specials I want to stick to be erratic. There is definitely a formula for it. Most of the Masters here have posted some ideas that are generally true. For example, Aggression seems to have the biggest effect on Sp1. Psychology seems to have the most effect on Sp2. Physique also comes into play for sure, especially in cases where specials are vacant in Psych or Agg.
Also, using DNA with elite attacks like Area Combo, Plague Strike, Open Wounds, etc. will cause your critter to come out with an empty special. But, I have found that DNA fromthese clones don't behavethe same in future generations as clones made from animals with no special. In cases where a clone is made with an elite special, the subsequent DNA seems to have no special more frequently thanDNA from an animal with no special. If that makes any sense.
I also *suspect* that sample quality has something to do with it. I think there may be a weight assigned to a special based on sample quality. For example, a special from AA dna factors at like .7 and a special from a VHQ factors at 1.1 when the combine occurs and the end result specials are produced. This is a hair-brained guess at this point. I could be wrong.
What someone needs to do is get a bunch of low level crap DNA containingdifferent specialsand spend an hour making different combinations with it while recording their results. Things to note would be sample quality, the slot you put it in, and what you experimented on. I will do this eventually when I get done with a project I'm currently working on. If no one posts it before me, I will.
I am pretty new to the BE profession so I have a very steep learning curve. I have spent many hours reading what you all have to say and actually applying it in the game. I have been able to figure out how to manipulate the DNA while making animals so I am actually producing what I set out to make in the end.
My question is this. I saved some awesome DNA (well best I have gotten yet) to use on a special pet for a friend. I had two samples that had two specials that I really wanted the pet to have in the end. I placed the samples in the Aggresion and Physique slot, but when the template was made it did not have the two specials I wanted.
The other samples that went into the other 3 slots did haveanotherspecial, and that was infact the speical that I ended up with. Did I confuse something here or was I just very unlucky for some reason?
Any help on sample placement with respect to specials is welcome.
Thanks

I find that HQ/VHQ in the argo slot will transfer the specails all the time. If it is average, for get it, it either leaves it blank or pulls from some other HQ/VHQ slot. Careful what dna quality and type you put else where. If you have HQ in the argo but VHQ in other slots multiple times, it can switch them out. Otherwise it is very reliable to get the specials from argo.
Not all the time, but with far greater chance. It is impossible to give real numbers to the chance, but for arguements sake I will put some in to illustrate what I believe is happening;
Special 1 Priority order - Agg 0.9, Psy 0.7, Phy 0.5, Pro 0.3, Men 0.1
Special 2 Priority order -Agg 0.8,Psy 0.6, Pro 0.4, Phy 0.2, Men 0.0
VHQ - 0.9, HQ - 0.7, AA - 0.5, A - 0.3, BA - 0.1, LQ 0.0
So, if you put a VHQ sample in Agg, you have a (0.9*0.9) 0.81 chance of its special 1 coming through and a (0.9*0.8) 0.72 chance of its special 2 coming through. If a special isn't picked up from Agg, then the sample in Psy is looked at, and so on. This would explain the both the broad results we are seeing plus help explain many of the apparent anomalies. It also seems that '-' is counted as a valid special, meaning it will lock into a slot and prevent a real special from appearing there from further along the chain. It also seems that the illegal specials do not block a slot, making them valuable in being able to mix certain specials.
As I said, the numbers are there purely for illustration, we have nothing like the volume of data to work them out even assuming this theory is true. But I do believe that something like this is behind the results we see.
