Thread: Knockdown Dizzy special combinations

I get quite a few requests for these two specific specials as a combination for pets in the 22-24 range and in the 34-35 range (triplet and team ranges) and I am looking for good sugestions of DNA to use to provide this combination.

Ravenous Torton looks like a good possibility, but its fortitude is rather low, making it a bit difficult to overcome for light armor.

Rancor Youth has Knockdown as special 1, and the Open Wounds special does not appear to breed true, so that allows for adding the Knockdown to a pet and still having a full resist profile and enough fortitude to be able to experiment up armor if the rest of the template is good.

Bloodstained Merek also has knockdown, but again has the low fortitude and is vulnerable to kinetic, making it a poor choice.

Gnarled Rancor has the fortitude, Knockdown as special 1, and no second special, so this might be a good "breed-in" to get the attack, but they have a number of vulnerabilities, including the dreaded Kinetic vulnerability.

Grand Wrix was nice, but its armor has been nerfed away, so it is not as solid a choice any longer.

Grassland Vortitor Tracker has the fortitude to be "bred up" to armor and its vulnerability is in Acid, which is not too bad in a PvE pet, and its Kinetic and Energy resists at 65% make for good material.

Grizzled Dewback has the desired combination, but little else to recommend it, except if trying for these specials on a non-CH pet through multiple generations. Pretty much the same for the Mountain Dewback.

Queen Merek Harvester looks like a possibility for the special, but has energy vulnerability, making it a PvE only pet, though the other resists are all either good or at least workable. Rarity may be an issue.

Vexed Voritor Lizard is another similar possibility, with the desired combination but energy vulnerability, meaning a PvE only pet unless carefully bred.

The other creatures having knockdown specials seem to be either too high to sample, or too low to be worthwhile except for the non-CH pets.

Any good suggestions as to combinations using any of these, or other possibilities that I may have missed for creating the dizzy/knockdown combination?

hmm I'll have to go back out there agian and check but I could swear it was a vorator I was faceing on dant that had me flat on my back unable to stand due to dizzy while it burnd and fought my pet. I sopose I could have picked up the dizzy from something else and it just lasted a while sence I tend to just take out everything in a large swath when I hunt.

Here is what I managed to make.

CL 40 Gurreck

12.3k health

11.7k Action

10.8k mind

Armor, 36% kinetic 2-4% in most other resists.

450-460 dam

KD and Dizzy (not ranged)

I used vexed voritor DNA in slots 1,2,4&5. Brackaset in slot 3. (I ran out...oops)

I experimented on Physique till it broke 500 (armor) and stopped. My goal was a cl40 (the max level user could control). I guess it worked. The vexed voritor was the key to the specials.

I have bred in KD/Dizzy into many pets... I have found it much easer to use a pet with both and bred in Armor+resists... Getting the 2 specials form seperate creatures is pretty hard... I have to do it for a KD+Str.Poison combo (no creature has both today)

Creature List for KD/Dizzy combo

ravenous torton Lv34
grizzled dewback Lv27
mountain worrt Lv22
tortur Lv21
mountain dewback Lv20
alpha veermok Lv20

I like the resists on those DNAs... So I'll keep the hit or miss 2 differents hehe plus, I need mutant dna anyway. :-)

Unless I'm mistaken which isn't very likely the Voritors do not have Dizzy. This is not important though because what they have is a substitute designed to force you to kneel. It's Crippling Strike.

I went with Merek Harvester and Ravenous Torton DNA for the pet, and ended up with a second generation creature that met the customer's needs admirably.

First Generation>

MH MH
MH MH
RT

Experimented to over 500 fortitude for the armor, point each into Mental, Prowess and Psych, 2 into agression.

CL 43 Razor Cat
Health: 12800+
Action: 10900+
Mind: 10850+
Light armor
Kinetic: 56%
Damage: 370
Speed: 1.98
To-hit: .55
Special 1: Knockdown
Special 2: Dizzy Strike
Ranged: No

Sampled the Razor Cat deed for second generation, got 1 VHQ and the deed poofed!!
I used the one sample and Merek Harvester DNA to continue

Second Generation>
MH MH
MH MH
(above) Razor Cat
Experimented 1 point to get armor.

CL 36 Razor Cat (Customer's requested CL )
Health: 10820
Action: 8285
Mind: 8971
Light armor
Kinetic: 59%
Damage: 290
Speed: 2.10
To-hit: .38
Special 1: Knockdown
Special 2: Dizzy Strike
Ranged: Yes

The customer is thoroughly pleased and can't wait for it to grow up, and I expect to be making many more with this formula, hoping to hit the CL 35 (team) level with it for one of a pair of excellent pets, the second probably to go with strong poison/strong disease specials as the other half of the team.

FYI, the Gaping Spider Queen has light armor, nice damage, and knockdown as Special #1. She goes great in the aggressive slot.

I could have sworn that the new iteration of Gaping Spider Queen didn't have armor, instead had huge kin\energy resists, like 65%.

The Ravenous Torton does not have armor either, but the Merek Harvester DNA was high enough in fortitude to make experimentation succeed in getting it without undue CL raises.

The GS Queen is a good possible choice, but that is still a "breed in one special from column A, one from column B" combine that is less likely to succeed than starting with the desired combination, though it can be done.

The Ravenous Torton DNA made the combination of specials a pretty good bet, and the rest was making up for the torton's weakness in fortitude.

GS Queen do not have light armor IMHO. I sampled them a few times, their kinetic is pretty good but short in fortitute. Torton don't have light armor either. I think the way you use the Harvestors is rather interesting not in breeding the high Kinetic (they are good in kinetic for sure) but for the cost of using them, Havestors are somehow fragile and die in one or 2 sampling for me most of the time.

One other thing I noticed is the special attack arrangement you got, it is rather strange you put Havestors in the slot 1 to 4 and torton in aggression slot and get the dizzy as special 2, KD in special 1. This usually not working out for me since most of the time Iput Havetors in slot 1 to 3, based on the quality of the DNAs, theese willsometime generate random special one attack (Havestors got Area Combo as special one), but I never able to get Dizzy in forspecial 2 if I don't have Havestors in psychology or aggresssion slot since my past expirenece suggest aggression slot has the most effect in breeding over special 2, thiscontradict a bit to what you got, maybe the MH in your slot4 is a HQ or VHQ that overrides the torton in aggression slot...but yet, where is the KD coming from?...very interesting.
