Hello all!

I'm currently anovice BE and working my way through the en masse grindage!. Anyway I'm very curious about BE's profitability and I know that the Tissues are probably the BE's best asset to sell. I also know with the recent vendor changes, those who do not have the spare sp to invest in (like me) the business tree in artisan would probably have a hard time selling goods.

So to all you BE veterans, is BE profitable? I know its a lot of hard work. I enjoy BE but I would like to make sure that I will get my money's worth for investing into this profession. I'm also fed up of doing mission upon mission.

Thanks

I'd probably rank BE kinda in the middle of crafting professions in terms of profitability. I think it's kind of a "feast or famine" kind of undertaking. You can go days without selling anything, then BOOM sell a bunch of crates of tissues or some high level pets, and have a couple million credits in a big hurry. But if this is a conern for you, you should check it out on your server, and with your particular situation. For tissues, your profitability will be tied to your ability to get high quality organics (meat/bone/hide) in large quantities and then to market the tissues you make from them. So you should start thinking about how you will be obtaining these supplies on an ongoing basis, and then take a look at what the market is for them on your particular region of your particular server.

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

BE can be EXTREMELY profitable if you know what to do. There are a couple of ways that make the most money- 1 being put crates of Tissues/Chef suppliment materials on your vendor and market yourself, hoping they sell. This'll give you the freedom of not being tied down, and as long as you price reasonably or even slightly higher than other BE's on your server you should be able to find people who'll buy your goods. The downside to this: waiting for a payday and not knowing when it'll come, and drawing attention to your business while keeping it stocked- noone likes to visit an empty vendor.

Option 2: find a Chef or two who needs BE suppliments (and most do). trick here is also keeping stocked, only this time you essentially have a) someone looking over your shoulder waiting for whatever you produce and b) possible deadlines and pressure. The big benefit to doing things this way is that you'll almost never have to worry about when your payday will come, because essentially it'll come whenever your goods come out of the factory and are picked up. Downsides: pressure, sometimes trouble keeping up with demand

I use option 2 (much to my success) and so far only supply 1-2 chefs with suppliments, however i find 90-100% of the items coming out of my factory are spoken for even sometimes before i put them in. I'll often consult the people i work with as to what they want me to produce, which also makes for a good business relationship and ensures that i'll be making something they can and will use.

another thing you can do is supply tailors with various items for purchase, either on a vendor or through direct sales. The disadvantage to this is that for each tissue to get used up someone has to delete a piece of clothing, which doesn't decay fast and is bugged, so even if a clothing piece has 0/1000 condition, it can sometimes still be worn.Tailor tissues can be sold at much higher prices than Chef items, however, so although you may sell less of them you could still make an equal or higher profit off of them.

Hope this helps

that actually depends a lot on your server....Kauri I know is one of the most BE depleted servers, others like Bria have a lot of competition. It also depends on finding chefs that dont have guildy BE friends or (even worse) BE alts, as these tend to spoil the market for all the freelance BEs by providing additives (and schematics...boo!) for free or way cheaper than you can afford to sell.
