Hello Fellow BE's
Last week I was on Talus and drove by a new creature, a Painted Spat. It had the silver <>, but wasn't on my BE,CH, Ranger toon. I came back today to have another look. Conned red, untamable, cl30. I thought silver<>, wonder what kind of DNA, I kept getting a message "You cannot sample from that target". I know CH get the you cannot tame that, message but has this ever happened to anyone while sampling DNA. It might be intended for this animal as I didn't even get a harvest... on the radial menu, only ex. and loot. I looted a hunting trophy. My harvest macros didn't do anything.
Does anyone have any info on this? What kind of DNA?. SWGCreatures didn't have much info on them. I was kinda hoping it would fit have DNA that would be good for slot 4-5.

Also on Talus there is a named Mutant Kamurra at the Kamura Genetic Research Facility. I tried to sample it and got the 'you cannot sample from that target'. You get this message on NPC's and players and sometimes you get it on animals that are bugged. In this case, if you kill the kamura you get a hunting trophy every time so I can only conclude that she is a non-sample-able quest animal perhaps?

But then again it might be a bug...

You cannot sample DnA from these creatures just like you cannot tame them, it is intentianal, they are 'special' elites that when kiled drop hunting trophies and are thus not tameable or sampleabububububle

Thanks for filling me in on that. I thought they might be intended that way, with a hunting trophy as a loot.
I'll keep looking for some DNA to play around with.

I've just broken into novice BE to see what it's all about. I've looked through most of the FAQs, etc to see what was up to date and such...

Here's my problem (you can tell I did a search)... I cannot sample 50% of the the creatures I try. I get the "cannot sample DNA from that creature" message at least half of the time I try to sample something. cl3 worrts, cl4 tempest rills, cl11 sycks, cl8 zucca boars, cl1 kreetles, cl3 eopies... and so on, and so on, and so on...

What's the deal?

On your sampling I'm afraid I can't help you there. You can do one of two things wait and hope one of the experts answer here. Or Start a new thread with that question, where one of the better BE, not me, will answer that question.

• it seems to be (sometimes)related to the area you are in and if you are getting this message a lot, you should move on to another area if not planet ...


• if you are getting this message, you will also not be able to milk the creature (if milkable normally), nor harvest it for meat and bones and hide


• if you are getting this message, i won't hurt (much) to get yourself cloned to see if that fixes it (but it might not)


• try breaking from sampling for a while and go to kill animals and harvest them .... (not sure why I am recommending this but why not).

As a novice BE, you should be able to sample up to level 12 animals. Level 1 and 2 animals should be sampleable with a fairly high fail rate at novice and the higher level ones are even worse, but the message you should get if you fail to sample it b/c of level, b/c of full inventory, etc. is something like 'you fail to take a DNA sample'.

She doesn't mean she actually sampled th corpse, she mean that accidentally sampling a corpse didn't result in a bugged spawn

Cin - as an uber-BE (tm) I can not only sample corpses of animals, I can also sample corpses of NPC's, players and CSR's.

Is nice to know that people read what i write carefully enough to see the mistakes lol.

How did you unlock this skill? Are there a lot of phases? Can you sponsor me? Can I be your apprentice?

I know some players I'd like to sample 'cause I really want to help them - they appear to be lacking in some essential DNA. Naw I just really want to stick people with my needle and see them keel over dead. Muhahahaha!!!!!
