Thread: Help with sampling branch with a low CL toon

I have a question. I have done BE before and mastered it in the past with one of my toons pre-CU. I have recently came back to it and have a few questions about sampling with my toon that is just a CL7. First do you get better xp if you sample in a group and are you able to sample from higher creatures if you are in a group of people and one is for an example CL80. Second now where is the best place for someone at my CL to sample. Any suggestions will help. I am a master architect and working on BE so I really don't have any fighting skills other then novice brawler or marksmand (can't remember which I have with this toon).

Well, it's safer for a combat 7 if you group with higher levels when you are sampling bigger things because of the damage mitigation. Grouping, luckily, has NO effect on DNA sampling xp one way or the other, but it will let you get away or even kill things that are level 20 if you have to. Assuming you have your trusty level 30combat droid by your side who is also grouped if your group level is higher than 30.
You'll want to choose animals that are not aggressive. So start with the small animals outside of Bestine (or any Tatooine NPC city) or Karen (or any Nabooian NPC city) to get your first box or two. At that point, you'll have better success and will need slightly higher level animals. There is some info in the FAQ about what to sample as well.
According to BE lore, your sampling success depends only on your DNA sampling ability, not on your combat level, BUT I am not entirely sure that the chance of the animal aggro'ing when you sample is not related to your combat level. It might be. Mask scent is certainly dependant on your combat level. Basically, DNA sampling has not changed much since the CU. It is the same old mix of happy successes and frustrating failures. And we still lose all our DNA samples when we get a critical fail.
