Thread: Bio harvesters
The issue I have is that there is only one way to get biological resources (bone, hide, meat) and that is through /harvest in the scout line.
Tailors and chefs are going to need these resources in bulk. Why can't bio-engineers get the ability to have/manage bio harvesters? Call it what you want... feed lots, slaughter houses, or something more politically correct.
We can already make the animals, why can't we have an automated way to make and harvest them?
Thwack
That said, Bio-engineer is going to change, a lot. It was by far the least polished of the SWG professions at the end of beta and it is going to get attention, so bringing up stuff like this is good.
Also I will point out that there are quite a few single animals out there that give 100+ resources each, so it isn't quite as bad as you might think if you are just killing new creatuers that give 1-3 hides. An easy to kill Eopie on Tatooine will yield 30 organics. The hard thing for a Bio-engineer is convincing people to harvest meat instead of hides and bones, they are used to getting those for scouts, tailors and armor-makers.

Everyone always wants to be able to do it all alone
(ok, I have the same desires)
Seriously, though - hook up with a scout friend. They'd be more than happy to have a constant demand for what they are harvesting. Many scouts end up not having a reason to harvest after they get enough scouting experience. If they know they have a market for the product, it gives them that extra motivation to harvest from all kills.
The game is designed to make players inter-dependent. Kinda neat. Wonder if it will work ![]()
I understand that inter-dependence is part of this game. BE was a replacement for farmer. Farmer/rancher was designed to be able to mass produce biological resources, much like the now defunct miner profession.
It just seems logical to me that since
/sample --> harvester
that
/harvest --> bio harvester.
I don't understand how this equates to my comment. I don't want to do it all alone. I am not even taking up a skill where I can use the resources.
