Thread: what's the point?
I'm not talking about the game at all. In my opinion the game rocks. I'm talking about flaming. Why does anyone do it? What does anyone gain from it? Do you flamers think you're better than everyone else? That you know more? And when someone asks a question that was already answered in the Jedi FAQ, don't post about how stupid they are. They're not. All it takes is a blink and a scroll-down and they can miss it. And for that you condemn them? It does you flamers most damage of all. No one wants to talk to you after you post a derogatory statement. And it most likely mirrors your interactions with your 'friends'. So many people just thoughtlessly put down others to make themselves feel better. It's easy. It's your first instinct when you were in grade school. But you're not in grade school anymore. Drop the attitude and be nice. And hold your tongue when someone does something wrong. Give them a hand. You may just find that it makes you feel good....and them too. As I said it's easy to be mean. But the thing I've learned about life is this: If something is hard to achieve.....it's probably something worth achieving. Now.......you may flame this. Oh yeah....read the Thrawn Triology. It owns you....and you didn't even know it.
Flaming makes them feel important and superior in this world.
Of course, though there are those that are plain stupid and deserve it. I know I've said many flameworthy things on these boards and those of many others.
Its not just that there are idiots- thats a given. Its also that many formerly optimistic, bright, and happy nerds like myself have been transformed into hollow, bitter shells of their former selves by the hideous vagueness of the 'path'.
The knowledge... nay... the DESPAIR, that you can be doing your very best, trying your very hardest, and still be going in COMPLETELY the wrong direction for ANY amount of time with NO clue if you are almost there, not even close, or what... THAT is what is crushing our very souls like a burning couch on our chests. That, more than anything else, is what transforms people who can normally restrain themselves into rabid beasts of the internet, ready to lash out at anything that doesn't conform to what they are used to.
That and the lack of fixes for commandos
