I have searched the archives, but am not finding the answer to this:

What determines the success rate of sampling? I'm a Master TKA and I'm doing sampling. I'm trying on junk creatures outside cities, and succeeding about 1/3rd of the time. On things like Peko-Pekos, I'm succeeding about 50% of the time (but they are less common).

Is it my sampling skill mod vs. the creature level? Or does sampling skill just do what the description says - makes for better, less traumatizing (lethal) samples?

Does it work like the CH skill mods, in that I can sample up to that level?

Thanks!

first of all id like to say that i hate when people ignore newb questions.
ok

in the beginning its kinda hard causeun can barely sample anything. i would try to get the sampling box because it lets u sample from better creatures and u can get better dna. the different creatures r nice and all but u need good dna, otherwise they suck.

i hope that helps.
btw what server u on?

Animals that are around the cities are disturbed all the time. I don't mean they are insane I mean they are constantly being run over by speeders, shot at by cdef blasters, and stomped into the dirt by creature handler pets. I've always had a better success rate with animals away from the city. I sneak up on the critters and wait for them to relax before I sample them. If an animal is laying down I seem to get more samples with a higher quality.

Thanks, both, for the information. I'm going to guess there isn't any hard and fast numbers to this? Like +30 skill = sampling from cl 30 critters?
