Thread: Generation cloning Did I take it too far?
Saddly because resistances aren't taken into consideration with the clone CL calculations it is very possible to end up with resistances that are too low for their CL. It seems that while the flaw allows for super powered pets it can also work against you too. I've found that typically you shouldn't bother going past 4th gen if your finding your not getting anywhere, not unless your inbreeding the clone with itself or similar dna.
I've taken generation cloning a bit too far in the past. I was trying to lower the CL,but ended up with a 7k Health, 100 Action, 3k mind pet. I had to put the poor thing out of its misery.
Can someone please explain to me how this generation stuff works? I can't seem to make anything good from a clone that I sample dna from. I don't know how to create certain stats. I read alot of these forums and get lost easily. I am a new BE. I love the class and have said forget Jedi, this is just to much fun. I want to get more complex in the matter but I don't know what I'm doing really. Can someone give me some layman's terms? I would greatly appreciate the help!

I'm probably not the best person to explain this, but i'll give it a shot. Make a bunch of clones with say high kinetic, and sample from them. Depending on what you're trying to do, you can bring in new DNA with for example high energy resistto mix with the clone DNA. I was trying to get pets with no vulnerabilities, so I would find something with only 2 vulns, make a good clone or two or 7, and then mix the DNA from the cloneswith wild that had high resists in the area that my clone was vulnerable in. After 3 generations, I ended up with clones that had no vulnerabilities, but some of the resists were only 3% or 7%. The template will tend to average the resists in the slots, with higher weight given to slots 1, 2, and 5 apparently, so I make sure those slots have the highest resists and armor. It's still a lot of trial and error, and about half the clones I get I don't resample from. I still have no clue on specials, for some reason I tend to end up with the same specials for 1 and 2 lol. I think I am starting to get the picture. It's still really blurry though.
So, I sample my butt off, create a lot of clones, (skins don't matter right?) and sample only the ones with high kinetic resists right? Then, from a dna sample not from a clone and that sample has high energy, I use the clones dna, mix it with the original dna to try and get high kinetic and high energy on the same clone! or do I use only cloned samples of dna for this?

A very useful thing to do is to make an intermediate creature to milk for stats when you can't find exactly what you want. For instance, there are almost no fortitude 400-500 creatures in the wild, they seem to jump from about 320- 507 with nothing in between. This can screw with your efforts to make a high kinetic, high resist creature, especially if you want to get specific specials in. What you can do, is take a bull or mutant rancor, add a couple of kin 60+, high-hardniess-but-no-armor-creatures to prowess and physical, and switch out the specials, especially special slot 1 which sucks for many of the top level creatures. When you sample this creature, you should get high hardiness, fort 450-500 dna, which you can then use to make the clone you really wanted, because fortitude 450 is easy to bump up to 500 with just one 600 fortitude native sample in slots 1, 2 or 5.
