OK,.. as i have no scouting skills really except what I have in MCH and and im Part TKA to help defend myself, now I am master BE and I'm wondering with all the nerfs and odd fixes that really aren't helping why haven't they done something to change the part of sampleing that lets you know if a creature is too high a lev for you?
Here was my day as Master BE and everyone telling meI could sample a Kimogila and I failedatleast 50 times and died about 5 trying to get these samples i just figure it was hard cause it was the highest creature Master BE's can sample.
It's wasn't tillI say another Master BE did i find out that you couldn't sample the KimoI asked then why didn't it give me a message saying i couldn't sample it well he said the message was thatI failed to sample the creature.
Well I said i get that message sometimes on things I CAN sample so what message do i look for if i can't sample them he said you just keep failing....
Well to me that is stupid and a waste of time I don't want to hire a ranger and my skill isn't high enough to see there CL I shouldn't HAVE to do these just to know if i can sample the creature it's just not right.

www.swgcreatures.com has a list of all the critters and their levels. Just look 'em up if you're stuck.
(I thought at first this was going to be some witty post about poking a needle into the Devs
- I obviously misconstrued the title..)

you're sampling devs??? you monster!
Actually, you know, although the CL 75 "cap" has kind of become part of the knowledge pool here, along with a lot of other stuff that members have figured out, I don't believe that it has ever been said by a developer or member of SOE that this is in fact a hard cap. I mean, there seems to be a very big difference in the chance of getting say a bull rancor (CL 65) rather than a mutant rancor (CL 75) so perhaps it is possible to get higher but just very very unlikely. I think my odds of getting a successful MR sample is probably like 1 in 7 or 8 or so. I've never tried to get dna from say a female malkoloc plains walker (CL 81) but perhaps that's just like a 1 in 20 or something rather than impossible. Hmm, and those are non aggro....

It would be nice at master BE to get the ability to see CL on /examine. By the time we've mastered BE, we should be as able as a master scout to tell how powerful a creature is!

exactly--I've never read where a dev said that there was a CL cap--funny thing is, on swgcreatures.com, they have dna information from a peko albatross, which means someone must have sampled it, or are just lying...it's CL155 I think.

The peko peko albatross DNA sample is from when BE's could sample any creature in the game

Dev DNA has very low resistance to criticism, but very high resistance to change. Power and fierceness are 1000, but intellect and cleverness are 120. Special attacks are nerfness and broken professions. Damage rating is 1.2 to 1.4M. Speed is dependent upon whether target is Jedi or not. Crit Fails are very common with this DNA, which is working as intended.
