Thread: Is light armor important?

Hi guys,

I've been wondering how important light armor is in a pet. Personally I think it's a good thing to have, but if I end up making something in the CL 25-35 range that doesn't have armor (but still may have 50 % or more kin resist and 10k HAM), is it trash, or could it still be agood pet? Or shouldI use its DNA and combine it with something else for an nth gen pet with armor? Thanks for your help,

Personally mid to upper 20's with armor I consider a perk, but I don't sell any pets 30 or over w/o armor.

what i do is :

- If it has specials you want in it, resample until you get a VHQ sample and mix it in to a new mix with light armor

- if the pet is lower than CL30 i sell it at 1k pr level, if its over cl30 i sell it cheaper without light armor

Basically most pets i make over cl30 has armor since it is a major asset

Best to think of Light Armour as simply 'halving' damage the pet takes, its a little more complicated to describe, but that is basicly the end effect.

Can make up your own opinion onif itsworth having based on that information

well since no PvE enemies I know of (maybe the uber upper level DWB mobs and stuff but no pet will last long against them anyway) do anything other than Kinetic damage in melee range, and none have AP weapons, then AP1 will literally halve the damage done against it, before any resists are calculated, unless your pet for some reason is Kinetic vulnerable =)

So a pet with AR1 and 20% kinetic resist will do .5*.8=.4 or 40% damage, a pet with AR0 and max kinetic will do .4 or 40% damage, so a pet with AR1 and anything over 20% kinetic would be better. The AR works against any damage type, too.

So if my pet is 60% kinetic resist, with light armor, it will only take about 20% of the damage that is dealt to it?
