Thats like asking which is better, a Shoe or a Giant asteroid hurtling in space?
The shoe has foot-protective properties, but the asteroid could be mined for valuable minerals.
In other words, you're an idiot.

if you want to only build pets you should be a BE. it's more of a puzzle solving kinda profession. for me it adds a little depth and excitement that i had missed being a combat only char for a while.
go ch if you wanna have a "living" weapon and prefer combat over crafting.
as a BE you cannot control or tame any of your pets over level 10. you can only make them.
you can master both if you want also. you'll be your own supply of high end, customized pets.

Why do I have to choose whats better? I love making pets that I can use myself I dont have to worry about extinction or skin or color. I have made my wife a kaadu of every color to match her clothing. I have made a woolmander thats cl60 with resists similar to a frenzied graul with strong poison.
I have taken that woolmander and with the help of a doctor friend killed atst after atst.
I like them both.

If you want to make them, go BE. If you want to use them, go CH. Or do what I did and go both ![]()
They're both rewarding, but in different ways, and having both makes each even better (nothing like making a really, really nice pet you can use yourself, and CH makes getting the DNA you need much, much easier).

Basically one's your weaponsmith, the other is your weapon user. Both are great fun in their seperate ways, IMO. Getting DNA is much more hazardous and entertaining than plopping harvesters down on steel though!

I play both (CH3323, and BE 1132) and I enjoy BE more than CH, way more, but maybe it's because I'm CH too ? ???
