Thread: What determines how much experimentation you can do?

I've been screwed with high level pets not getting their armor many times now because fortitude capped out at 498 or 499. This has happened three times when ALL DNA samples started with over 500 fortitude and twice when all started out with VHQ DNA over 500 fortitude. Usually it drops to 300 - 350 fortitude before experimentation.

I've never been able to experiment more than 20% in physical stat - I'm not sure that i've been able to experiment over 20% in any stat.

I'm using a 49+% crafting station and 14+% crafting kit.

I've seen many experimentation bugs as well. Its seems a crit failure actually maxes the fortitude stat while reducing the other physical stat. Several times I've seen a cap put in place on experimenting in a line before all of the bubbles have filled - get success but no rise in skills.

Does anyone know how to open up more experimentation space, or what causes the 499 fortitude cap?

Try that formula for predicitng Hardiness and Fortitude

yeah, that doesn't really answer my question, and ignores what I've written above - using 5 dna sample where all of them are VHQ and have fortitude over 500, they still maxxed out at 499. That should be impossible by that formula. Eitehr the formula is wrong, or there is bugged DNA that doesn't display its real stats (and we know that is happening with some creatures' resists already)

Also, this still doesn't solve or explain the real issue - why is our experimentation so limited on DNA templates? Anything else I make I get 4-8 bubbles of improvement possible, with dna templates I rarely get more than 2. What affects this, how is it improved?

Short Answer: DNA Samples/Experimentation is bugged.

Long Psudoanswer: With every other crafting skill the quality of the resources used is what determines how much something can be tinkered with (i.e. the 4-8 bubbles for experimentating with), but alas our DNA samples have a big "**edit** you" from the devs stamped in very, very find print, then again are we really all that suprised?

What DNA were you using? I haven't had a problem getting to 500 if all of my fortitudes are over 500.

Are you seeing this regardless of the Success Level of the combine? If you are seeing this on "great" or "amazing" success I would truly wonder. Although..a slight drop in stats is consistant with most of my combines and only brought back up with some experimentation.

Oh..and to answer the title of your post. The Engineering Techniques line of BE gives you more experimentation points as you advance. Another bump is given at Master.

Sounds to me like your problem is dna quality. I believe that the lower the dna quality, the more the "basline" of the stats will drop relative to the doner creature and the less you'll be able to experiment on them. I did a couple critters where I had this issue when I was using AA dna quality in the physique slot, but now when I'm trying to get armor I make sure to use a VHQ dna sample there go give me maxium experimentation on it.

Rancor, singing mountain rancor, gaping spider (hunters and the ones I can't remember) is what I'm using. Possibly those Nocuous K's have bene involved, but I don't think so, I think their Fort is below 500.

They were great successes. I've never seen anything between great success and critical failure on combines.

Again, I got this several times using all VHQ DNA, in all slots.

Master BE.

Best crafting station and kits I've seen in the game.

Okay, I too have been having this problem. I also have been getting very high end DNA, but am unable to get armor no matter what I do. I am BE 4/4/4/2 however and using the same amount of points and same DNA a master BE Helper I was working with made armor with no problem.

So what it looks like is that they have placed a cap on our skills and you are just unable to get armor unless you have either Eng Tech 3, or 4 or maybe even Master (not sure yet).

This is all I have come up with as everything else is the same, unless it is a bug!

Anyone with Eng Tech 3, or for having trouble getting armor on pets?

Thanks

Take the time to write down your DNA numbers for each slot, then the template numbers, then track what changes for each exp point you spend. I'm interested to see whats happening
