is it always on the low side? i've seen it selling for pretty high prices but low quality, and the milk i have found is always low quality. is milk quality important?

The quality isn't very important just because the amount of other ingrediants, thatwill easily have better stats,will greatly overpower bad quality milk.

but if its gone sour then throw it out.

Im also an Ahazi BE, and can agree the milk quality sucks.
Unless you know where to look.
Try paralopes, bagerasets, sharnaffs, etc on Correlia. They currently have high quality milk but it takes forever to get an appreciable amount from them. If you want quantity over quality I managed to get about 3000 milk night before last from Pikets, but its horrible quality.
