Everytime I get close to a Voritor Dasher it detects me. I have Explore 4 ....

didn't someone say that the line of site for the critters plays a role too... i.e. you have a better chance of being detected if you go strait at the animal with it facing you....
sneak up behind it....

just do what i did. dant is so laggy that you can swoop right into the waypoint, dismount and apply mask scent before the lair has spawned. thus, just as long as u dont move, u can sample them with ease.

Technically not possible to have a +25 Mask Scent shirt but if you've got your mask as high as it can go and you're crawling up on them and still getting detected then I suggest coming back another day.

i had a weird day once like that. basically if there were any reds anywhere on my radar and i moved, i got detected. the next day it was business as usual.

I have lots of luck if I have on my +25 mask scent clothing combo and if I actually ride up BEHIND it on my swoop to about 5m. I have macros all lined up in the toolbar, so that I target the VD, /dismount, /sampledna, target bike, /mount and wait for it to successfully sample 
I also use this technique for Merek Assassins and KMH pretty well. Rancors dont try it. Especially in groups. They detect the bike if you get closer than 60m usually. Also, try not to sample the VD twice in a row. If you have a lair with two or three spawned, sample one, go to the next, then go back. I can usually only get 2 samples before one agros if I just keep sampling the same guy, but I can easily get 15 samples from one lair if I sample back and forth

I'm really bad... I'm a ranger on TC now so I'm lazy and just run up to stuff and stab it with my needle lol.
bad habit to get into, expecially when you want to go play with the rancors.

I would suggest you drop the voritor dashers and go for the Horned Voritors, they are much nicer.
Nancy, don't rub it in ok LOL. Geez running up and stabbing them sigh.
I did do great on some MR's the other day though, I learned to run as soon as they broke my scent. Eventually i just wandered amongst them sampling till they were all dead.
Now if they would make Young Plainswalkers a little less rare I would be a happy camper.

Hey, I've done my time I've been a BE with no mask scent at all and still gone mutant rancor sampling

I run up to MRs and just stab them - with quite a high success rate - cba with all that sneaking about lately
