Thread: Clone Engineering line purely cosmetic?

Hey all,

I've been a BE for awhile now, not a master yet but I was wondering about this. Seems that post-patch the clone engineering line is purely for cosmetic purposes, right? If so I'll raise the other 2 lines first before I mess with this. Can anyone confirm this for me? I'm guessing that Engineering Tech now is the only line that affects the CL of creatures I can make? Or is it the quality and level of samples that affects this?

Thanks

this is NOT true. I have run several experiments using nearly identical dna templates, put into different 'skins' and have come out with a wide variety of cl's.... of course I believe cl's are extremely bugged at the moment, but that's for another thread

I agree with Oso, and actually this concerns me a little bit. Since the animals are just "shells" (or seem to me to be) and the cats are superior due to their speed (everyone wants a cat skin) really, I'm betting about 3/4 of the creatures in the clone line will go completely unused.

I can confirm what Saleb says, not sure if its just the cl bug but the skins are affecting what the final pet stats are like. For instance, I have a harder time making a cl10 cat with descent stats (aka, higher than 1k ham) than I do say a jax or kima.

Cosmetic? I suppose it all depends on how you view a "pet". Do you see a pet in a purely utilitarian way, in which the only thing that matters to you are its stats? Or do you see a pet as a companion, a creature that accompanies you around, something you can become attached to, something that looks like you and can complement you?

Also, the creature skins have minimum creature levels. Rancor for instance, has a minimum CL35, so its ownership immediately tells onlookers that its master is a high-level creature handler.

Not all pets are the same, just as not all article of clothing is the same.

The latter obviously. I've yet to sell a pet since the patch where someone asked for a specific type of pet, and the stats were secondary. 100% of the time it's the other way around, and only occasionally do they even mention they type of pet skin they want.

the only pet types I've been asked for by non-ch's are all the type with visciousness built in, or came out CL 11+(above non-ch level)

lol seems the devs know exactly which cosmetic ones people want for fluff, and pre-nerfed them accordingly.
